Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Finance, the Director of Human Resources (HR) in the College of Education and Human Development is the liaison between the College and the University’s Human Resources Department. The Director manages all activities for the College, related Centers, and the Institute’s human resources function to ensure the consistent and equitable application of University HR policies and applicable labor laws. The Director will collaborate with the University’s Human Resources Department to plan and direct the implementation and administration of HR functions throughout the College. Responsibilities include working closely with department managers on recruitment, retention, reclassification and equity reviews, performance management, human resources issues, and disciplinary actions.
The Director enforces University work rules and attendance policies; develops and implements procedures, goals, and objectives for the administrative unit; understands and applies knowledge of University and College policies and procedures; and effectively communicates them to faculty, staff, and students. Responsible for onboarding and training new staff.
This position serves as the representative who provides consultation and guidance to students and staff regarding race and diversity issues. Additional duties include managing payroll, the hiring and separation of employees, providing and removing access to university systems, participating in recruitment, and advising Department Chairs and Program Directors on personnel matters.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience\:
Bachelor’s degree and six (6) years of directly related human resources experience in a complex business or university setting. Experience must include working independently in an advisory or consultant capacity, leading and managing strategic HR matters, and covering the following functional areas\: recruiting, employee relations, organizational change management, performance management, training and development, job analysis, and salary administration. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

*Success advising and providing consultative support to management and staff and an ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and handle challenging situations tactfully.

*Demonstrated skill in effectively managing administrative operations.
