**Job Description** **US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED** \#LI-SW1 We are currently recruiting for a Director, DOD Space Programs for the BAE Systems, Inc. Space and Mission Systems (SMS) Sector s Strategic Operations (StratOps) Strategic Capabilities Unit. The Director, DOD Space Programs will drive strategy, contribute to business growth, and support multiple SMS strategic business units (SBUs) focused on defense-oriented customers and markets. Customers and stakeholders include the U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Space Force, U.S. Space Command, U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory, Space Rapid Capabilities Office, Space Systems Command, Space Development Agency, DARPA, and others. Business opportunities of interest range from spaceflight hardware development, ground infrastructure and operations, and engineering support services. The position reports to the Vice President, Strategic Operations. The reporting location for the position is Arlington, VA. StratOps consists of Washington DC Operations, Strategic Development and Marketing & Communications for the BAE Systems Inc. s SMS Sector. The StratOps team promotes and elevates the business within our markets, works with customers and industry to influence and drive growth, and facilitates collaboration across the sector to increase opportunities. **What You ll Do:** + Develop strategy for DOD space pursuits and programs, in partnership with SMS defense-oriented SBUs. + Implement strategic priorities and execute campaigns for DOD space portfolio. + Create and maintain extensive and enduring customer and stakeholder relationships to gain insight into organization direction, priorities, and budgets. + Represent SMS in customer/stakeholder meetings and industry association activities. + Understand customer missions and technology needs and how they may impact business goals. + Provide analysis on opportunities and risks in the defense market. Advise and make recommendations to executives on strategies and direction for the DOD space community. + Identify, assess, and qualify potential new business opportunities. Partner with SBUs to develop proposal and pursuit strategies. + Develop, coordinate, and execute engagement plans for DOD space customers and stakeholders. + Prepare the President, Vice President of Strategic Operations, Vice President & General Manager of Military Space, and other executives for customer and stakeholder engagements. + Operate with the highest level of professional integrity. + Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule. + Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment. + Perform other duties as necessary. **On-Site Work Environment:** This position requires regular in-person engagement by working **four days** each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required. **Working Conditions:** + Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor. **Required Education, Experience, & Skills** + BS/BA in related field plus 12 years or more related experience. + Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education. + A current, active TS/SCI security clearance is required. + Specific experience working with the U.S. Department of Defense space acquisition community and in the aerospace and defense (A&D) industry is required. + Ability to identify, establish, and build respected and trusted relationships with key government customers across the defense community and the A&D industry. + Working knowledge of the federal budget process. + Solid programmatic background with the federal government and/or A&D industry preferred. + Demonstrated ability to exhibit thought leadership. + Excellent communication and presentation skills, leadership ability, initiative and creativity, and a high degree of judgment while working within an environment that places a premium on collaboration and teamwork. + Ability to work and be an integral part of an action-oriented, decision-making environment. + Experience in managing in a matrix environment and developing professionals, staff members, and consultants effectively, as well as appropriately advising/influencing senior-level executives. + Ability to travel approximately 30%. **Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills** + Graduate degree. **Pay Information** Full-Time Salary Range: $164000.000 - $278800.000 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
