Director - In-House Maintenance

The Director of In-House Maintenance will be responsible for overseeing and leading maintenance operations for a fleet consisting of over 2,800 company-owned and leased Class 8 tractors. This individual will ensure that the maintenance division adheres to all regulatory requirements and will supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate maintenance management personnel. Furthermore, the Director will execute related supervisory and technical responsibilities as necessary.
What you will be doing:
+ Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
+ Inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
+ Conduct employee training in equipment operations or work and safety procedures or assign employee training to experienced workers.
+ Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
+ Maintain operations data, such as time, production, and cost records, and prepare management reports of production results.
+ Determine standards, production goals, and rates, based on company policies, equipment and labor availability, and workloads.
+ Confer with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints, or grievances.
+ Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments.
+ Recommend or implement measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency.
+ Recommend or execute personnel actions, such as hiring, evaluations, and promotions.
+ Enforce safety and sanitation regulations.
Talent Requirements:
Working knowledge of industry. High School diploma or GED equivalency required; formal training or licensing is a plus. Ten (10) years of prior multi-shop experience required.

+ Working knowledge of all aspects of the transportation industry with specific training/experience in the repair and maintenance field.
+ Class 8 tractor/trailer experience.
+ Class 8 refrigeration equipment experience is a plus

Physical Requirements:
Ability to function in a shop environment including exposure to outside temperatures and conditions, loud noises, fumes, odors, and potential safety hazards; applying knowledge of safety procedures.
Dexterity, hearing and talking requirements are constant.
