Summary
The Director of Investor Relations (IR) will lead and manage all aspects of Greenbrier's financial communications with the investment community, which includes institutional investors, investment analysts, and other key stakeholders. This role requires close collaboration with senior leadership to strengthen Greenbrier’s investor relationships. The IR Director will ensure that the company’s financial performance, strategy, and growth initiatives are clearly communicated. Additionally, the IR Director will be crucial in managing the company's reputation with key financial stakeholders, enhancing shareholder value.


Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform the following essential duties satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to address business needs and changing business practices.

 

IR Strategy and Execution:

Continue to evolve and enhance our investor relations strategy to ensure it aligns with the overall business plan and growth trajectory of Greenbrier.Manage the daily relationship with Greenbrier’s external advisory firm to develop and implement investor access and financial communications strategies.Establish and grow relationships with investment analysts, institutional investors, and shareholders.Represent Greenbrier at investor conferences, roadshows, and investor meetings.Monitor market trends, competitor performance, and shareholder sentiment to inform IR strategy.

Communication and Messaging:

Craft and maintain clear, concise, and consistent messaging for financial disclosures, press releases, and presentations.Coordinate with corporate accounting and communications during the preparation and release of quarterly earnings reports, annual reports, and other regulatory filings.Ensure that Greenbrier’s financial and operational information is communicated transparently, effectively, and timely to the investment community.Collaborate with the C-suite, particularly the CEO and CFO, in developing financial narratives and investor presentations.

Financial Analysis and Reporting:

Analyze and track investor feedback and trends to measure market perceptions and sentiment.Track financial communications and financial performance of peer group and certain common index companies.Provide senior leadership with detailed peer and industry financial analysis as needed and investor insights, helping shape strategic decisions.Oversee the preparation and distribution of investor presentations, quarterly earnings call scripts and other key documents.

Leadership & Collaboration:

Lead in developing a world-class IR program through collaboration with colleagues from various disciplines throughout Greenbrier.Develop and manage IR goals and performance metrics.Contribute to developing key shareholder communications documents, including the annual report, proxy statement, and sustainability report.

Crisis Management and Issue Resolution:

Serve as a key spokesperson to our shareholders during significant change, crisis, or strategic shifts to manage shareholder expectations and minimize potential volatility.Proactively engage with investors to address concerns or questions about business performance, strategy, or market conditions.

Governance and Compliance:

Working with corporate accounting and legal to maintain a current understanding of applicable SEC regulations, including those related to financial reporting, disclosures, and insider trading.Work closely with corporate accounting, legal and finance teams to ensure compliance with regulatory and governance standards in investor communications.

Qualifications
The following generally describes requirements to successfully perform the assigned duties.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Communications, or related field (Master’s degree or MBA preferred).5-7 years of experience in investor relations and 3-5 years in FP&A and/or corporate finance, with a proven track record managing relationships with institutional investors and analysts.Strong understanding of financial statements, market analysis, and regulatory requirements.Experience with earnings calls, quarterly reporting, investor meetings, and financial communication strategies.Complete adhoc analysis as neededExceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex financial and strategic information into clear, compelling messages.Commitment to foster collaboration, receive and respond to input from audiences inside and outside Greenbrier.Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess and interpret market trends and financial performance.High proficiency in financial modeling, Excel, and other financial tools.Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop relationships and influence key stakeholders internally and externally.Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Strategic Thinking: Ability to think long-term and align IR strategy with broader business objectives.Relationship Management: Excellent networking and relationship-building capabilities with investors, analysts, and key stakeholders.Crisis Management: Ability to remain calm and poised during challenging situations or market volatility.Leadership: Demonstrate an ability to lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing investor relations program.Collaborative: Collaborate with others across Greenbrier to achieve shared objectives. Partner with others to get work done. Credit others for their contributions and accomplishments.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in a senior finance role within a public-traded company, highly preferred.
