Director - Jackson Square
The Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) is seeking qualified individuals for*Director of the Jackson Square Transitional Assistance Office (TAO*). Our ideal candidate will manage all programs administered by the Department, including Transitional Aid to Families with Dependent Children (TAFDC), Emergency Aid to the Elderly, Disabled and Children (EAEDC), Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Employment Services within the communities served by the office. _Duties and Responsibilities __(these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):_ * Develop and implement efficient business models utilizing available data in order to ensure accurate eligibility determination and timely processing of program benefits in compliance with state and federal policy and procedures. * Collaborate with Department of Workforce Development (DWD), Workforce Investment Boards (WIB), Employment Services Programs (ESP), and others to increase economic opportunities for client self-sufficiency through work program participation and meaningful employment. * Develop and maintain community relationships for the purpose of achieving the agency mission. * Manage staff in a manner that best supports DTA’s anti-poverty agenda while providing excellent customer service and enhanced access to DTA services. * Exhibit strong leadership skills within DTA and as a representative to other state agencies and community organizations. * Ensure staff for all programs has an opportunity for professional development and job satisfaction, with consistent evaluations based upon their performance. * Network with community stakeholders to develop a working TAO Advisory Board. * Process and coordinate all personnel changes with the Human Resources Unit. * Develop and coordinate plans for adequate staffing of the Transitional Assistance Office. * Evaluate the needs of the area office and develop plans regarding personnel, equipment, space and supplies. *Preferred Qualifications:* * Ability to provide leadership and supervision to an interdisciplinary team of staff responsible for effectively and efficiently delivering quality customer service, resources and services. * Ability to motivate and encourage staff. * Exceptional negotiation, conflict resolution and coaching skills. * Experience working with Federal or State programs with complex regulations and policies and the demonstrated ability to develop necessary strategies for effective implementation. * Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously for effective planning, delegation and communication. * Ability to create collaborative partnerships with multiple stakeholders including community-based organizations and local coalitions. * Experience in workforce development, education or housing. * Understanding of issues of poverty and diverse low-income populations. * Excellent verbal and written communication and reporting skills. * Strong computer skills, including word processing, email, and Excel (spreadsheets). *Agency Mission:** * DTA is the state agency responsible for administering public assistance programs to low-income residents of the Commonwealth.
