Under general supervision, own and optimize the Central Procurement functions of UMMS and Member Organizations via extensive cross-functional collaboration and mastery of procurement best practices. Responsibilities include Driving Procurement efficiencies that enable ongoing improvement within the Procure-to-Pay process, build shared commitment for desired future state and achieve objectives, understand, communicate, and effectively promote the value proposition of the Supply Chain organization.
Actively seek and identify new opportunities to offer customers greater value-added services and work closely with key stakeholders to plan, prioritize, and implement supply chain programs. Identify required areas needed for improvement and set continuous improvement goals and develop strategies to execute/accomplish. Address operational weaknesses (i.e. financial control, customer satisfaction, cycle times, etc.) by implementing appropriate short and long-term remedies.
Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

1. Responsible for the procurement transactions of all products and/or services for UMMS Shared Services.
2. Directs procurement and actively collaborates with Accounts Payable on successful Procure-to-Pay process.
3. Supports the Procure to Pay process between Member Organizations, Accounts Payable, Contracting and Procurement.
4. Provides analytical approach to managing, reviewing, and finalizing buyer sourcing decisions, consistent with current Supply Chain Contract Management portfolio.
5. Plans, organizes, and administers subordinate development, providing guidance to employees relative to their dealings with suppliers and persons from other departments within UMMS. Develops and promotes teamwork and positive relationships between subordinate and the rest of the organization.
6. Collaboratively develops sourcing strategies, both long and short term, to support Supply Chain initiatives.
7. Provides continual process improvement through maintaining active input from customers.
8. Monitors current and forecasted market conditions and developments and keep appropriate department leaders informed.
9. Proactively analyzes purchasing data to assess departmental and spend optimization. Presents data to key groups such as Supply Chain Champions, Supply Chain Directors, etc.
10. Leads workgroups, creates work plans, deliverables and desired outcomes for initiatives with targeted due dates.
11. Sets priorities based on customer input, savings potential, and organizational readiness.
12. Reports progress on a monthly or as requested basis.
13. Effectively forges professional relationships with subordinate staff, internal customers, Supply Chain colleagues, vendors and process partners.
14. Collaborates with internal customers to enhance service, improve financial outcomes. Develops and cultivates mutually caring and beneficial relationships with both internal and external customers. Continually strives to meet or exceed customer expectations, enhancing trust and respect in others.
15. Cultivates positive business relationships with process partners by holding regular meetings, collaboratively resolving problems, soliciting input, establishing standards, etc.

QualificationsEducation and Experience
1. BA/BS in Business, Health Administration or related degree preferred or equivalent experience. A related master’s degree preferred
2. 7-10 years progressive experience in Supply Chain, preferably in healthcare.
