The role you’ll contribute: Directs the operations, analysis, strategic planning and budget allocations, facilitation of hospital wide mission integration strategy ensuring that best practices are present in each facet of the following areas; Community Benefit, Chaplains, Physician Engagement, Communities of faith outreach, Creation Health. Faithful work in these areas will place AH Wesley Chapel at the fore of quality and mission vibrancy and ensure that AH corporate accountabilities are met each year. Exhibits initiative, creativity and sound judgment in delegating responsibility, systemizing procedures, interpreting policies, planning for new services and analyzing activities and relationships with people. Demonstrates Service Excellence always. Ensures all duties are performed in accordance with organizational policies and procedures and compliant with regulatory and legislative requirements.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

The Director of Mission and Ministry (Dir - M/M) is responsible to develop and create operational alignment in five strategic areas:

· Leadership and Strategy

a. Campus representative and liaison for Mission & Ministry functions. Responsible to lead and implement strategic plans and system objectives of Mission and Ministry at a campus level, providing oversight for process and outcomes.

b. Active member of campus leadership team. Integrate and align Mission & Ministry objectives with the campus master planning, and participate in decision-making as a member of campus leadership team

c. Christian Service Plan

i. Develops annual CPS in conjunction with CEO

ii. Mission Integrated Peer review

iii. Carries responsibility for preparation coordination and follow-up for MIPR visits

d. Mission Integration

i. Fully participates in and supports the Mission Integration Committee initiatives and functions as established CEO

ii. Works with HR in developing means for Mission integration into new Hire orientation, existing staff re-orientation Orientation, and ongoing HR functions

· Team

a. Chaplains and Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE)

i. Supervise the Manger of Chaplains ensuring:

Excellence in meeting:

a. AHS standards

b. Staff recruitment for cultural/gender balance

c. Staff assessment and development

d. Spiritual Ambassador growth and vibrancy

Integration into and support of the mission culture at AH Wesley Chapel

Effective CPE recruiting, performance and compliance with CMS regulation

b. Pastoral Care

i. Manage and participate in the delivery of certified and clinically integrated spiritual care to all patients served, and demonstrated the tangible difference such care makes within our faith-based healthcare

ii. Coordinate and support the clinical ministry of chaplains to patients in campus – unit assignments, daily ministry, scheduling and coverage.

iii. Collaborate with clinical team to integrate spirituality into care and demonstrate impact through research and publication

iv. Provide direct pastoral care as appropriate

v. Fosters and coordinates a foundation of spiritual support for our employee family, enhancing a culture of care and compassion wherein every employee can find true meaning and purpose in their work

vi. Coordinate and facilitate ministry of chaplains to staff, including education, integration, and evaluation of mission quality standards

vii. Recruit, lead and inspire Spiritual Ambassadors to perform roles and maximize impact, integrating their ministry within the life of the campus and supporting specific initiatives

viii. Integrate CREATION Health and other Mission Integration and Culture initiatives at campus level

ix. Liaison with campus Employee Engagement team to provide spiritual foundation for all initiatives

c. Physician Engagement

i. Physician Wellbeing

Establish AH Wesley Chapel Meaning in Medicine with appropriate committees and support

ii. Physician Mission Orientation

Develop effective means of integrating AHS mission into the physician culture

· Patient Experience

a. Ensure that Spiritual care initiatives for Mission and Ministry resources and initiatives to support the Patient Experience goals at a campus level

b. Liaison with campus Patient Experience team to provide spiritual foundations for all initiatives

c. Implement initiatives connected with CREATION Health as they impact faith community relationships

d. Assist campus leadership in fostering spiritual environment and symbolism on campus

· Community Benefit

a. Health Assessment and Community Health Plan for AH Wesley Chapel in conjunction with the Community Benefits Manager establishing common initiatives to respond to needs

b. Community partnerships including focus on Faith Communities

· SDA Church

a. Build connections and trust with local congregations

b. Engage with Academy and assist with development of new academy as requested

· Serves as liaison between hospital administration and community partners; reports appropriate information to administration and ensure two-way communication with partners.

· Represents administrative leadership at designated committee meetings, board meetings, general membership meetings, and other meetings as assigned.

· Performs additional duties as required or assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

· Ability to communicate (verbal/written) effectively in both large and small group setting at different levels of the organization and in public settings.

· Demonstrated leadership capabilities and experience as a change agent with the ability to develop consensus from independent parties to achieve organizational goals.

· Demonstrated management skills with strong interpersonal skills and ability to actively engage and motivate individuals of all ages and diverse backgrounds, skills/abilities; have an ability to counsel and develop others’ capabilities.

· Detail orientated with strong critical thinking, organizational, planning and customer relations skills.

· Results driven with demonstrated ability to drive, promote and create a mission driven culture of service excellence.

· Demonstrated track record in effectively and strategically recruiting volunteer chaplains and developing pastoral care initiatives that help enhance patient, guest, physician and staff experience.

· Demonstrated knowledge of strategic and financial/budget planning and management.

· Ability to effectively delegate, multi-task, and manage conflicting priority is essential.

· Ability to function in demanding, stressful and fast-paced environment.

· Skilled in crisis intervention. Highly adaptable and skilled in de-escalation and intervention of emotionally charged situations.

· Computer skills and proficiency in MSOffice, and EMR applications.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

· Master of Divinity degree

· Minimum of two units of Clinical Pastoral Education

· Minimum 2 years supervisory or management experience in a hospital setting.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

· Congregational pastoral experience

· Four-units or residency in Clinical Pastoral Education

· At least 5 years’ management experience in an acute care setting in a medium to large size hospital setting.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

· Ordination/licensure as minister in good standing with the Seventh-day Adventist Church

· Endorsement through Adventist Chaplaincy Ministries of the General Conf. of SDA

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:

· Board Certification with the Association of Professional Chaplains
