**Description**
- **THE ROLE**
Leads the overall administration and management of Peri-op Surgical Services. Responsible for creating a culture of patient safety and establishing an environment that supports clear, effective communication between disciplines. Strives for benchmark performance in operational efficiency, financial planning/performance, business development, general and medical community interface, and strategic planning. Assures long-term Ministry success through overall excellence of outcomes in clinical quality, customer service, staff, and physician satisfaction, financial viability, and regulatory compliance within areas of responsibility. Manages assigned department(s) and functions across the area continuum of care to provide integrated services in a fiscally responsible manner through direction, support, and development of Managers/Supervisors and staff, and through collaboration with medical staff, other hospital directors, administrative staff, community groups and agencies. Embraces and articulates the mission, vision, values and goals of Providence Health, (may include Sonoma County) to create a culture of trust excellence and shared purpose. Directors with responsibilities across more than one entity, have a dotted line authority to CNO’S or designee within each entity and accountability to the Executive Director of Perioperative Services, South Division.

+ Strengthen focus on excellence in a culture that measures quality and continuous improvement of performance to meet the needs and expectations of patients and community. Acts as a liaison by effectively involving medical staff, other departments or stakeholders. + STEWARDSHIP
+ Assumes responsibility and accountability for fiscal management of specific departments across all entities in collaboration with staff and physicians. Communicates with staff and colleagues on a consistent basis regarding key financial goals and performance. Formulates, presents, and defends annual budget (including personnel, supplies, resources, and space) based on assessments of departments’ resources, programs, and projected needs. Monitors budget, analyzes variances using data and documents justification and takes corrective action to adhere to budget. Analyzes trends, identifies opportunities and implements changes in systems or technology to improve efficiency, productivity, and decrease costs. Implements changes in systems, equipment or technology to increase efficiency, safety, productivity, and promote cost containment. Facilitates implementation of new technology, products, and supplies to provide safe effective services and maximize productivity. Selects, manages and evaluates outcomes for contract services. Performs responsibilities to provide quality, cost-effective services in the stewardship of area resources.

+ Ensures that staff possesses the appropriate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to the age of the patients served, including knowledge of the principles of growth and development and psychosocial characteristics and interventions for the population served on the unit. Ensures that staff is competent in assessing and interpreting age-appropriate data about the patients’ in order to provide the care needed. Ensures that staff possesses the appropriate communication skills for the patient population served. Ensures that staff demonstrates knowledge of age-specific community resources and continually updates staff appropriately.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
+ Master's Degree in Nursing, healthcare administration, business administration, or comparable field (Preferred)
+ California Registered Nurse License
+ Certified Nurse Operating Room, CNOR
+ 5 years of proven leadership in developing, managing, and operating high performing surgical services
+ Demonstrated excellence in achieving benchmark performance related to customer service and the staff work environment/culture necessary to achieve same
+ Proven change management skills including crafting of strategic direction, working with institutional infrastructure and processes, and effectively directing/managing tactical processes as applicable to all health care disciplines
+ Must be adaptable: dealing with the “minutiae” and diversity of daily operations and related problem solving, while retaining strategic focus and driving for long-term results
+ Knowledge of and demonstrated success in effectively and efficiently managing surgical and interventional operations, knowledge of reimbursement practices highly desired
+ Knowledge of local and regional health care environment/market helpful
+ Able to achieve goals in a working environment that uses multiple modalities of communication and computer applications
+ Must be expert with verbal and written communication.
