Summary:
The Director of Nursing is responsible for managing the department and for directing and supervising all nursing functions and activities. The Director maintains a high quality of resident care and ensures that sufficient and properly trained personnel carry out the functions of Nursing Services. The D.O.N. has knowledge of state and federal requirements affecting long term care and is responsible for the development, implementation and compliance to standards of nursing practice and care. This position serves adult and geriatric residents.
Responsibilities:
1. Independently prepares and submits annual budgets consistent with management plan, addressing statistics, personnel, supplies, and other department costs; plans ad budgets for future capital needs; monitors budget monthly reporting significant variances
2. Evaluates monthly budgeting print out to ensure that all departments are staying within budget restraints; prepare and submit yearly budget
3. Monitor individual performance of staff and completes and annual performance appraisals; maintains a positive employee relations climate
4. Develops annual management plans consistent with the mission and strategic plan of the organization and submits written progress reports quarterly; maintains sufficient staff to perform the duties and responsibilities of department; attends monthly department manager meetings; develops new and/or improves current programs
5. Develops and implements quality improvement programs utilizing the principles of strategic quality management; ensures all department functions are in compliance with regulatory and DHHS requirements
6. Assess and ensure staff competency; ensure employees complete all organizational requirements and provide opportunities for attendance at optional educational offerings; assists in development of resident care programs; review and revise nursing policies; develop and implement monitoring systems of nursing care; review monthly infection control reports; oversee QA programs
7. Respond to all resident and family member concerns; attend family counsel meetings when invited; review all employee evaluations making recommendations and giving input on yearly evaluation; monitor nursing practice for compliance with nurse practice act; monitor facility compliance with OSHA regulations; interview prospective employment candidates as needed; review daily staffing sheet to determine staffing needs and adjustments; enforce MNC policies and procedures; provide MNC leadership with current information and facility updates

● Requires Bachelor's of Science in Nursing
**Licensure/Certification Requirements:**
● Registered Nurse Licensure in North Carolina
**Professional Experience Requirements:**
● Requires three to five years of nursing experience in long-term care
