Job Description
Purpose & Scope:
As an integrated member of the VHC Health Leadership team, the Director of Occupational Health will support initiatives to enhance health, promote injury prevention, and drive wellbeing of all staff through clinical leadership. The Director will oversee the delivery of occupational health services to the VHC Health workforce, including by:
Promoting injury and illness prevention programs and ergonomic evaluations; Acting as liaison with internal and external legal counsel regarding and Workers compensation claims and settlements; Managing the budget and day-to-day operations of the occupational health department;Negotiating and administering contracts;Gathering and reporting data to applicable Federal, State, and local governmental bodies;Ensuring compliance with applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations; andCollaborating with internal and external stakeholders on occupational health matters.The Director must have strong written and oral communication skills; a sincere interest in people; management, leadership, consultative, and administrative skills necessary for program development, marketing, and evaluation; and knowledge of best practices relevant to delivery of nursing care to an employee population in the healthcare environment
Education:
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. BSN required, Master in Nursing, Business, or Public Health preferred
Experience:
A minimum of three years of hospital bedside nursing required.
Occupational Health nursing experience preferred.
Leadership experience preferred.
Certification/Licensure:
Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Virginia Department of Health Professions or compact state licensure in nursing is required.
Certification as an Occupational Health Nurse is preferred.
BLS certification is required.
