Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Director of Accounting to join our team. This role is critical in overseeing our financial operations, ensuring compliance with government regulations, and providing strategic accounting guidance to support our growth. ResponsibilitiesImplement and manage effective cost accounting systems to track project costs, profitability, and financial performance.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as government contracting requirements (e.g., FAR, CAS).Lead internal and external audit processes, ensuring timely completion and compliance with applicable standards.Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports to upper management and stakeholders.Lead external tax preparation and reporting by coordinating with outside experts.Identify risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.Collaborate with the rest of the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure operational liquidity and support ongoing projects.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field; CPA preferred.Minimum of 7 years of progressive financial management experience, preferably in government contracting.In-depth knowledge of government regulations, accounting principles (GAAP), and cost accounting standards.Strong analytical skills and proficiency in financial modeling and analysis.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact with diverse stakeholders.Proficient in financial software and ERP systems; experience with ERP implementation is a plus.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in reconciliation, month-end closing, general ledger management, cost accounting, accounts payable, financial reporting, and audit support.Knowledge of regulatory compliance and government contract requirements.Experience in tax coordination and risk management.Work Environment
Current work includes space communication devices and navy-cleared contracts, among others. The team works 100% onsite due to the nature of the work. The office is cubicle-based with manufacturing facilities in the back. The company culture is diverse; some team members enjoy socializing together outside of work while others are more family-focused. Work with equipment that goes into military installations and have the ability to see through from product design to manufacturing. The company is stable with multiple recent awards and is moving into a brand new space.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $160000.00 - $200000.00
