Director of Aerospace Strategy
OVERVIEW The Director of Aerospace Strategy provides leadership and market insights for the aerospace submarket in the High Performance Facilities (HPF) business unit. This role reports to the Director of Aerospace Programs and ensures opportunities are in place to effectively grow the aerospace market and to ensure the financial strength and operating efficiency of the aerospace market pursuits and projects. The selected candidate will receive comprehensive training and mentorship to fully grasp the role and responsibilities. This hands-on guidance will provide valuable insights and experience, allowing the candidate to work closely with a seasoned professional. Typical annual pay range for this position is $179,000.00 - $222,800.00. Pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, skills, and experience. WHAT YOU'LL DO Support the Director of Aerospace Programs in the following: Operational and Business Development Activities Responsible for developing and implementing strategies to increase revenue, improve efficiency, or otherwise achieve the organization’s aerospace market goals. Demonstrated commitment to the firm’s values of respect, integrity, service, and excellence. Develop business strategies and business plans for growing the aerospace market including the strategic plan to support company goals. Develop the business development skills and materials necessary to grow revenues in the aerospace market. Manage the operations of the aerospace team to meet financial objectives established in approved business plans. Prepare and manage aerospace financial plans employing Merrick’s financial management tools. Manage budgets, financial activities, and cash flow for the business unit the aerospace projects are led from. Oversee the development of fee proposals, contractual documents, risk management practices, contract negotiations, change order processes, conflict resolutions, and billing/collection practices. Prepare executive team screenings that address risks and how Merrick will prepare and mitigate them. Develop marketing strategies for products or services that consider customer needs, competitor offerings, and industry trends. Direct the development and employment of operational procedures and tools as necessary to ensure the business unit is technically trained and equipped to be effective, efficient, and competitive in providing high quality services. Develop and sustain positive business relationships with other firms and business associates as necessary to form winning and successful teams on aerospace projects. Leadership and Leadership Development Provide the leadership and mentorship necessary to recruit, develop and retain a motivated, high-performing team for the aerospace market. Coordinate, support, and collaborate with the marketing efforts and business practices of other business units and operations throughout the company to support the aerospace market growth. Directly supervise the aerospace market sector leaders and operational managers in their roles for business development and operations. Operational leaders include project managers and technical leaders from the major disciplines. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Ability to successfully led teams including overseeing their work performance to ensure business goals are met. A bachelor’s degree in a technical degree required. Minimum twenty (20) years of industry experience. Licensed professional engineer (P.E.) or significant operational experience (15 years) in aerospace market projects. Possess advanced skills in directing the business development and operations of a successful aerospace practice with multiple offices. Currently responsible for and have successful record for leading the profitable growth of a multi-office, aerospace engineering practice. Experience in creating and integrating regional offices, including mergers and acquisitions. Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship. Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable under Merrick’s insurance carrier. Ability to travel up to 40%: includes international travel. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS MBA or Technical Graduate Degree. Knowledge of design\build, sustainability design, topographical surveying, cost estimating, and construction.
