Position Overview
This position is a critical role within the National Employee Benefit Practice and will lead Analytics and Underwriting across United States. As the Director of Analytics and Underwriting you will be responsible developing, maintaining and training on best-in-class financial deliverables for current and prospective large clients with complex, primarily self-funded benefit programs. Financial deliverables include financial and contractual analysis, claims utilization analysis and modeling, renewal projection and premium rate analysis and modeling.
Job Responsibilities
Underwriting RequirementsUnderwrite fully insured medical/dental/vision renewals.Project self-funded health and pharmacy costs for self-funded clients.Ability to model different plan design adjustments and corresponding impact to current and/or future rates.Ability to model enrollment migration, seasonality impacts, employee contribution scenarios and other adjustments to health plan cost build-up.Demonstrates the ability to interpret initial results and suggests modifications based on plan experience large claims, data outliers and other anomalies.Communicates results, identifies key issues, assesses implications and describes methodology to the client Benefits/Human Resources contact as well as their Finance team contact.Develops client-ready financial analysis, reports and presentations.
Required ExperienceHealth and welfare consulting experience: 7+ years of industry experience (carrier or brokerage consulting)Project/client/financial management experienceBusiness development experience, including competitor and market knowledge a plusAdditional formal or informal responsibilities may include People management or mentoring
EducationBachelor’s degreeFSA/ASA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries or Associate of the Society of Actuaries) preferred
