The role you’ll contribute:
The Director, Cancer Research Network Development and Clinical Integration (the “Director”) is accountable for providing strategic planning, financial forecasts and assessing and promoting the infrastructure and activities of the Cancer research footprint at AdventHealth. The Director is accountable for developing the Cancer research strategies for existing and developing markets that are strategic priorities of AdventHealth. The scope of responsibility includes basic, translational and clinical cancer research conducted at all regions.

Establishes the Cancer Research Network strategies for the AdventHealth Research Institute. Accountable for the assessment of market opportunities and developing tactics that leverage facilities, clinical excellence and catchment areas to extend cancer research to all aligned markets within AdventHealth.
Develops executive administrative direction and implements those systems for clinical research operations to ensure operational colleagues have the resources and opportunities to meet institutional goals and the needs of the communities served.
Identifies, fosters, develops and implements clinical research integration strategies in aligned therapeutic areas. Establishes and deepens working relationships between clinical service lines that leverage clinical research opportunities to identify novel mechanisms of disease and address unmet medical needs, examples include Cardio-thoracic research, Metabolism and Cancer research Neuro-Oncology research trial and study opportunities.
Works alongside the Scientific Directors, Institute Leadership and research executives to identify and develop strategies for new research programs and initiatives. Contributes to the assessment of clinical trial opportunities to support decision making for external research networks.
Represents Adult and Pediatric Oncology research teams in internal, hospital and external committees; participates in task forces related to network clinical trial activities in NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centers and serves as a liaison at the state and federal level with AdventHealth Government Relations to advance clinical research interests as well as community outreach.
Promotes AdventHealth research capabilities at local/national meetings and educational conferences pertinent to public relations and future business opportunities.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of scientific and clinical literature in relevant therapeutic areas including key clinical development topics.
Maintains a positive work climate; applies policies fairly and consistently and fosters an environment where employees contribute to the organization.
Supports the CSO, VP of Research and Cancer Institute leadership to advance overarching partnerships with NCI-designated cancer centers that support the path toward NCI CCSG consortium status approval at AdventHealth.
Supports AHRI, AHCI and external partners in CCSG-relevant activities.
Work with the CSO, VP and Executive Director Research Operations to adjust the organizational chart and staffing to meet the immediate and long-term needs of AHRI.
Works closely with the AdventHealth Foundation to procure philanthropic funding for various projects, and with the Medical Director to lead the development of new multi-PI team science grants, capitalizing on strong clinical trials and large patient volumes.
Fosters collaborative working relationships with cross-functional executive leaders (i.e., finance, legal, and regulatory, others) to align processes, maximize efficiency, and drive timely and quality project delivery.
Formulates, implements, and interprets policies specifically related to regulatory operations in conjunction with Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) guidelines.
Responsible for the development of Oncology research annual operating budgets, including the determination of AdventHealth foundation and clinical trial-related revenue projections.
Performs long- and short-range financial, strategic and business planning for existing and developing research markets within the AdventHealth footprint.
Plans and manages AHRI activities to ensure adherence to funding and membership goals/objectives to ensure NCI Cancer Center designation is obtained/maintained (e.g., data tables, accrual of women, minorities and children to clinical trials, etc.).
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :
Minimum qualifications :o Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Research Administration or other relevant Healthcare fields
o 7 years of oncology clinical research experience developing research network strategies
o 5 years’ progressive management experience; preferably in an academic environment or NCI designated cancer center
o Previous experience coordinating and managing multi-site clinical research programs
Preferred qualifications:o 2/28/22 Advanced degree in Business or Research Administration or other relevant Healthcare fields preferred
