Director of Cardiopulmonary Services

Main Function:

The Director of Cardio-Pulmonary Services provides administrative and clinical oversight to Cardio-Pulmonary Services and communicates those efforts to the VP of Patient Care Services/CNO and to the Health System. The Director assumes full accountability for the coordination and integration of clinical and administrative functions of these services.  This position works closely with the Executive Staff, Directors and the Board in assuring and meeting the strategic intents of the health system, while assuring regulatory and legal compliance. The Director is responsible for maintaining education and necessary competencies for the roles.

 

Required Job Specific Competencies:

The Director demonstrates skill and knowledge in area of licensure and/or training.  Demonstrates the ability to work independently and exhibits flexibility in decision making and prioritizing assignments.  Actively protects the confidentiality of sensitive information including but not limited to the patients, staff and the health system.  Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient. Embraces a culture of safety and helps identify way to continually improve practice. Always demonstrates and lives the CARES values.

 

Qualifications:

Required:  Bachelors’ Degree in related Health Care or Business Field. Registered Nurse or Registered Respiratory Therapist required. If registered nurse, BSN or MSN required. Preferred: Masters’ Degree or willingness to complete within 5 years of appointment Possesses and maintains current NYS licensure and registration as either a Registered Nurse or registered Respiratory Therapist. Professionally mature, energetic and creative individual who demonstrates leadership qualities demanded in a rapidly changing health care environment.  Maintains a working expertise in a clinical service within the Cardio-Pulmonary Services arena and additional knowledge base in management theory and practice.  Previous demonstrated success in managing daily operations, budgetary and personnel responsibilities is required.  A willingness to learn, to take risks, and to pursue excellence is necessary.  Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, strength in public speaking and formal presentation skills.  Additionally, a thorough knowledge of clinical theory, practice and technology to enhance practice is required.   Can mediate situations where divergent positions are common. A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in Healthcare Leadership required.  Evidence of career advancement and progressive increase in responsibilities within the health care environment is essential.  Clinical experience in Respiratory Therapy or Nursing Required. Demonstration of sound ethical principles, advanced communication style and interpersonal skills development is necessary.

 

Supervisory Responsibility/Supervision Received

Works under the guidance of the Vice President of Patient Care Services / CNO. Assures the completion of annual performance and competencies of those who directly report to the position. Further assures that training, competencies and performance reviews are all managed in a manner consistent with System’s standards and expectations. Provide a positive teaching environment for coordinators, supervisors and managers.

 

Physical Demands:

Walking, sitting and standing constitute a large portion of the day.  Ability to adapt and be flexible enough to adjust working schedule to met needs of organization. 

 

Pay Range: $90,000 - $120,000

Starting Rate: Based on experience
