The Director of Clinical Content is responsible for reviewing and updating all aspects of the clinical content embedded within UnitedHealthcare’s Care Management programs. The Director must have a proven track record of effective Care Management program design and implementation in the payer space.

 

This role works with various teams across the enterprise to refine and enhance every aspect of UHC’s clinical content including the modernization of care assessments and related member care plans.  This role will partner with teams and leaders across Optum Health. Enterprise Clinical Services and Optum Tech to review, evaluate, and drive innovation and program enhancements. The role will lead implementation efforts and will be accountable for driving continuous program improvement.

 

The role requires a strategic and critical thinking mindset with the ability to handle multiple priorities as well as the ability to articulate and represent both UHC and Optum’s Care Management strategy to executive leaders across the enterprise. The director must possess the ability to speak clearly on complex problems and develop relationships across internal teams to ensure effective feedback loops and that key program milestones are met. The director should be comfortable making decisions using input from subjective sources. This position reports to the National Medical Director of Care Management for UnitedHealthcare.

Primary Responsibilities:

Reviewing and updating all aspects of the clinical content embedded within UnitedHealthcare’s Care Management programs Works with various teams across the enterprise to refine and enhance every aspect of UHC’s clinical content including the modernization of care assessments and related member care plans Review, evaluate, and drive innovation and program enhancements Lead implementation efforts and will be accountable for driving continuous program improvement

Required Qualifications:

5+ years of healthcare experience in a Payer, Health System, or large Clinical Practice 3+ years in a leadership/management role leading small teams of direct reports Solid strategic, analytic and critical thinking skills with proven ability to use clinical, administrative and claims data to identify opportunities, inform program design Demonstrated ability to directly inform program design, systems development and implementation of IT systems to support care management innovation Solid history of quickly building relationships, gaining credibility and partnering with business leaders. Must excel at collaborating across multiple teams and distinct business groups. Experience in overseeing the execution and metric-driven performance evaluation of vendors, operations teams and financial return on investment Proven ability to drive, lead and communicate change effectively in a fast-paced environment and be adaptable within the changing environment Ability to make strategic, operational and administrative decisions in response to emerging program insights Ability to lead large scale program implementations Solid ability to communicate effectively and efficiently (both verbal and written) at multiple levels of large, complex organizations Solid organizational, management, administrative and human relations skills, and a style which exhibits emotional maturity, leadership, collaboration and teamwork Creative problem-solving skills Self-starter, initiates work independently Experience delivering effective public presentations High level of proficiency with MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and Visio Ability and willingness to travel

The salary range for this role is $106,800 to $174,200 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with al minimum wage laws as applicable.
