Director of Communications, Engagement and Recognition
Overview Sprouts is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Communications, Engagement, and Recognition to lead our internal communications strategy, strengthen team member engagement, and drive meaningful connections across the company. The ideal candidate will have exceptional writing skills, proven experience crafting communications for C-suite leaders, and demonstrated success managing team member surveys and feedback processes. Overview of Responsibilities • Own the development and execution of a cohesive internal communications strategy across multiple channels. • Serve as a trusted advisor to the C-suite, providing expert communications support for executive initiatives, including drafting messages, presentations, and announcements. • Refine and cultivate our internal voice, ensuring communications are clear, straightforward, and aligned with the Sproutie persona. • Leverage storytelling to connect team members with our business and purpose, simplifying complex ideas into easily understandable messages. • Oversee the management of team member surveys and the feedback collection processes to ensure engagement is accurately captured and assessed. • Implement and manage recognition platforms and programs that celebrate team members' contributions, ensuring alignment with our company values and purpose. • Lead communications supporting key business processes, including product recalls, strategic initiatives, training communications, change management communications, and team member resource groups. • Manage corporate events like our annual company conference, town halls, and other company events, ensuring alignment with company purpose and employee engagement strategies. • Identify and implement technology to support two-way communications, encouraging dialogue and feedback across all levels of the company. • Partner with internal and external multimedia teams to develop creative and engaging content that enhances our internal communications. • Ensure all internal communications are aligned with Sprouts' business goals, branding position, and employee value proposition. • Support change management efforts by providing clear, concise, and inspiring communications during company transformations and key initiatives. • Establish metrics and track the effectiveness of communication strategies, adjusting as needed to maximize engagement. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field. • 10+ years of internal communications experience, including at least 4 years writing for C-suite executives, ideally in retail. • Proven experience leading a team and fostering a collaborative, high-performance environment. • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to reflect leadership voices and the Sproutie persona. • Strong storytelling ability and skill in simplifying complex messages. • Proven experience collaborating with multimedia teams and managing media projects. • Experience with large-scale team member recognition programs and platforms. • Expertise in managing corporate events with internal and external partners. • Strong project and program management capabilities, able to juggle multiple initiatives. • Demonstrated success in building cross-functional relationships across diverse teams. • Passion for Sprouts' purpose of helping people live and eat better, with enthusiasm for fostering a connected, purpose-driven workplace. • Solid understanding of internal branding and articulating the team member value proposition. • Experience implementing communication technologies to boost engagement and collect feedback. • High emotional intelligence with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, fostering relationships with professionalism, empathy, and respect. • Experience in a high-growth retail environment is a plus.
