The position: As one of the leaders of the Construction Department, the Director of Construction is responsible for all facets of designated Construction and Capex projects assigned to their respective region and team. Only highly ethical candidates with an ability to problem solve and lead a team will be considered. The candidate will need to have demonstrated substantial prior experience and strong leadership skills. Knowledge with plans, change orders, scope creation, AIA contracting, insurance loss, budgeting and coordination of all team activities will be expected to ensure that goals or objectives of the department and projects are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters.
Responsibilities Reviews project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of projectEstablishes work plan and staffing for each project, and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnelFinancial reporting and tracking of department profitability will be requiredDirect and coordinate with staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority to ensure projects progress on schedule and within prescribed budgetReviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modify schedules or plans as requiredPrepares project reports for management, client, or othersPossess the ability to work with ownership and lenders to create opening capital budgets for loan tie backPast insurance and adjuster experience for loss situations expectedAct as the liaison for ownership groups on a regular basisConfers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problemsCoordinates project activities with activities of government regulatory or other governmental agencies Qualifications
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university preferred in addition to 10-15 years of prior related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experiencePhysical Requirements:
May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of timeMust be able to read documents, computer screens and dataMust be able to hear and understand verbal communications in person and over the phone or computerMay occasionally be required to lift or carry items such as files or office supplies weighing up to 15 poundsMust be able to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse and other office equipmentWork Environment:
This is a hybrid role, requiring the associate to work in one of our corporate or regional offices 4 days per week.The office is an open setting which may include bright lights, constant noises and distractions.
