Job Title: Director of Corporate & Foundation Relations Campus: Metropolitan Campus, Teaneck, NJ Department: University Advancement-Metro Hiring Manager: Colleen Coppla Hiring Manager Title: Senior Vice President for University Advancement College: Position Type: Professional Administrative Grade: 30 FLSA: Exempt Faculty Rank: Salary: Commensurate with Experience Status: Full-Time Months Worked: 12 Month Job Summary: Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Corporate/Foundation and Major Gifts and working in collaboration with the Senior Vice President of University Advancement, the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations will develop fundraising and partnership initiatives in support of a wide range of University priorities targeted to corporations, foundations, professional associations, and other private organizations with the capacity to make significant gifts and other contributions to the University.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES: 1. Identify programs and activities of the University that can attract external support and respond to external requests for proposals.2. Utilize available resources to discover potential institutional donors, regional, national, and global, whose interests reflect the University’s priorities: research databases, Raiser’s Edge, social media, online newsletters, etc.3. Plan and execute strategies to engage and encourage support and establish holistic relationships across units and departments at the University.4. Identify and cultivate new prospects; work to expand relationships with current corporate, foundations, and other private donors and partners.5. Working closely with faculty, staff, and administration to develop project, program and capital letters of inquiry, applications, proposals, etc. to be submitted on behalf of the University for funding consideration; manage internal and external processes for proposal generation and submission.6. Provide appropriate stewardship for corporate/foundation donors as needed, for example writing thank you letters to donors from various University representatives; arranging site visits, working on stewardship, progress, and financial reports as needed on deadline; review and manage overall stewardship activities.7. With the Assistant Vice President for Corporate/Foundation and Major Gifts, work to determine, meet, and exceed metrics as determined by Assistant Vice President and Senior Vice President of Advancement, such as research goals, gift and grants income goals, solicitations, contacts, and stewardship activities. Design and implement strategies to achieve goals.8. Keep current with trends in the foundation and corporate philanthropy community. Travel toand communication with prospects and current institutional donors to understand emerging interests and to identify areas of mutual interest between the University and the institutes’ priorities.9. Work with other University Advancement staff in identifying alumni and friends of the University with influence at corporations, foundations, and other organizations whose priorities reflect the University’s activities.10. Collaborate with the University Director of Grants and Sponsored Projects and coordinate joint efforts with selected faculty to determine commonalities and leverage private funding for government supported research or programs.11. With the Assistant Vice President for Corporate/Foundation and Major Gifts and University Director of Grants and Sponsored Projects, create and present seminars and workshops for University faculty and staff on project conception and grant proposal writing.12. Develop and implement specialized training sessions for University librarians, departments, and individual faculty in the use of foundation and corporation databases and other research technology.13. Administer corporate and foundation research databases and contracts with appropriate vendors; Manage all data records for institutional prospects and donors in Raiser’s Edge to fulfill application and reporting requirements and to track stewardship activities.14. Work with other professional staff in general fundraising efforts as required.15. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: 1. Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred.2. Minimum of 5 years of development experience preferred, with a significant portion of that experience directly related to higher education corporate and foundation relations, and on-line application process.3. Knowledge of fundraising including grant and proposal writing and interaction with corporate and foundation officers.4. Ability to work well with faculty, staff, students, and various offices across the University.5. Excellent written and oral communication skills.6. Excellent interpersonal skills and experience in working with deans, faculty, administration, and president in program development initiatives.7. Familiarity with the New Jersey corporate and foundation community is desired.8. A valid driver’s license, accessibility to a car, and ability to travel within the New Jersey/New York area; other travel as needed.9. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check.
