Director of Corporate Technical Accounting
Job Description **The Role:** The Director of Accounting is responsible for ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of all corporate accounting functions and technical accounting and coordinating internal and external audit processes. Drives the development and improvements of processes that provide leaders and stakeholders with a clear line-of-sight to their financial performance and enable them to make quality decisions supporting the success of their business or function. Ensures that solutions and improvements provide optimal customer experiences. Will ensure alignment and execution of strategic goals and objectives. **Key Deliverables:** 1. Monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and related management reports are prepared accurately and timely for management review. 2. Documentation of accounting policies and processes and improvement of monthly close process providing greater visibility to management. 3. Provide accounting and technical support for business and M&A activity. Lead the adoption of new accounting standards. 4. Improve monthly close process by improving processes and visibility to management 5. Build a successful, high-functioning corporate accounting team. **Responsibilities:** + Oversees general accounting responsibilities, including fixed assets, general ledger and chart of account maintenance, insurance, payroll, benefits, leases, debt, accruals, prepaid, and the monthly accounting close and reconciliation process. Establishes, monitors, reports, and corrects performance on key metrics for the Accounting Department. + Prepares monthly and annual financial statements and related management reports. Prepares quarterly and annual balance sheets and cash flow statements for budgets, reforecasts, and monthly variances. Helps prepare financial statements for private equity and lender reporting requirements. Performs analysis of results. + Partners with Finance and Operations to identify, analyze, and implement financial and operational process improvements. Coordinates the internal and external audit process. Works with auditors on accounting changes. + Primary company resource to answer questions and perform research related to technical accounting issues and adoption of technical accounting standards. Ensures compliance with accounting standards and requirements. + Helps to integrate acquisitions into the accounting system and provides accounting and technical support for business combinations and asset acquisitions. + Manages his/her team related to hiring, on-boarding, performance management, utilization, training, development, salary, promotions, transfers and terminations. Coaches individual and team performance and improvement. + Works with the Controller, CFO and leadership team on special projects. Other duties as assigned. **Ideal Candidate Experience:** + _Education/Experience_ : BA/BS or MS/MA in Accounting or Finance and at least 10-15 years of related experience. Mixture of some public accounting and corporate accounting/controllership experience. Experience with private equity-backed companies is a plus. + _Licenses/Certifications_ : CPA. + _Technical_ : Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Systems experience with large ERP systems. NetSuite experience a plus. Thorough knowledge of and applied experience with generally accepted accounting principles. Experience working in technical accounting and reporting. Strong knowledge of financial statements and strong analytical ability. + _Communication_ : Communicates clearly & professionally.
