Cottonmouth Ventures, Diamondback’s investment arm, focuses on equity method investments in key infrastructure sectors such as pipelines, power, and other energy-related assets.
We are seeking a Director of Cottonmouth Ventures, a senior-level executive responsible for overseeing and managing all of Diamondback’s equity method investments. This role is akin to a VP at an investment bank and requires deep financial acumen, strategic vision, and experience in investment management across the energy and infrastructure sectors. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in corporate finance, private equity, or investment banking, with a strong background in energy and infrastructure transactions

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Include but are not limited to:

Lead and manage Diamondback’s equity method investments in pipelines, power infrastructure, and other energy-related assetsDevelop and execute strategic investment initiatives, ensuring alignment with Diamondback’s broader corporate goalsIdentify and evaluate new investment opportunities, including potential mergers and acquisitionsMonitor financial performance and operational efficiency of existing investmentsCollaborate with internal finance, legal, and operations teams to ensure investments are structured and managed effectivelyProvide detailed investment analysis, financial modeling, and risk assessment for current and prospective assetsManage relationships with investment partners, joint venture stakeholders, and external advisors (e.g., investment banks, legal teams, consultants)Negotiate transaction terms, deal structures, and financing arrangements for acquisitions and investment expansions

Required Qualifications:

10+ years of experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate finance, or energy infrastructure investmentDeep understanding of equity method accounting, capital markets, and energy sector transactionsProven track record in managing and optimizing investments in pipelines, power, or midstream assetsStrong financial modeling, valuation, and due diligence skillsExceptional negotiation and deal execution experience, particularly in large-scale infrastructure or energy investmentsAbility to manage relationships with joint venture partners, institutional investors, and executive leadershipBachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Business, or Engineering

Familiar with oilfield terminology and operations
