Director of Cranes
Maintain, develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure that equipment is properly maintained at or below budget. Promote teamwork between management staff and labor in order to achieve constant process improvement and operational effectiveness. Review operational data and downtime history in order to develop alternative parts or procedures, which will reduce overall failures, increasing MTBF (Mean Time between Failures) and aid in reducing time to repair MTTR (Mean Time to Repair). Must have the ability to read, understand, and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems. Experience with troubleshooting and managing PLC controllers and AC Drive Systems.

The Director - Container Cranes reports directly to the Vice President of Maintenance concerning these functions and provides administrative support to the ILA workforce to ensure that the Container Cranes on the Port Liberty Bayonne facility meet or exceed both OSHA and accepted industry standards, for the highest possible equipment reliability and availability. Ensure a safe working environment, meeting and or exceeding all government & company rules and regulations related to equipment and people.

Responsibilities and Duties
The Director - Container Cranes has administrative oversight to:
Ensure that the ILA Crane Maintenance workforce perform their duties in a safe, professional and efficient manner.
Responsible for administrative oversight of labor staff of the Crane department
Review daily manning requirements based on operational and maintenance needs and ensure that labor payroll is accurate and approved in a timely manner.
Ensure that all cranes and crane equipment meet all OSHA standards pertaining to this type of equipment and that all applicable records are maintained up to date.
Daily communications with the Marine Operations Department with status of all crane equipment, crane orders, and review of any vessel downtime events to ensure accurate logs.
Maintain positive and open communications and best practices with other Port Liberty Terminal Directors.
Assist in new equipment procurement and upgrade projects, which include assisting in the development of equipment specifications, evaluating vendor technical responses, working with outside consulting crane engineers, and commissioning of crane related assets.
Review records of equipment usage and downtime in order to develop strategic planning for equipment upgrades, and new equipment procurement.
Track and record crane equipment operating, maintenance and repair hours and costs.
Review and approve all crane department purchases.
Review and approve all department expenses.
