Director of Data Governance

The Opportunity

Are you passionate about data? We are seeking a Director of Data Enablement & Governance to lead data management strategies that drive data-informed decision-making across our organization! This role involves developing and implementing data governance strategies, supervising solution engineering for governance projects, and enhancing data management and quality!

You will lead a diverse team of data engineers, data analysts, business owners, governance experts, and solution engineers, ensuring alignment with the organizational objectives. A solid understanding of technology and data platforms, cloud infrastructure, information management, and governance frameworks are essential. Additionally, you must possess excellent partner relationship leadership skills and the ability to collaborate across all organizational levels. Experience and discernment in business management and risks and controls related to data governance are required. As a leader, you will focus on building and leading high-performing teams, fostering a growth mindset, and providing visionary guidance to achieve data governance excellence.


Responsibilities

Data Governance Strategy: Develop and articulate a clear vision and strategy for data governance alignment with the business objectives.Collaboration and Quality Assurance: Work with data owners and stewards to enable data quality controls, resolve quality issues, conduct audits, and mitigate risks. Optimize metadata collection, access control management, and  data lineage.Operational Model and Standards: Establish a robust operating model across the business domains. Develop and implement data quality standards and governance structures, ensuring alignment with global strategies.Technology and Process Enhancement: Improve technology solutions for data sharing, access control, quality, lineage, and metadata management. Document data interfaces and transformations.Project Leadership and Results: Lead projects and initiatives, demonstrating progress through effective management of POCs and programs. Participate in Data Technology steering committees.Team Leadership and Mentorship: Mentor and lead a team of data analysts and governance specialists. Coach technical staff on governance and control requirements.Integration and Data Lineage: Supervise the integration of data sources into a unified platform, ensuring standards and objectives are met. Ensure complete data lineage capture and management.Program Support and Adoption: Support enterprise-wide data governance adoption, contributing to program metrics, scoping, and improvement efforts. Partner with business units to implement data catalogs and glossaries.Training and Best Practices: Work with the global data governance team to deliver training and support in implementing standard methodologies for promoting governance and transparent data usage.Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management: Support frameworks and standards that uphold data integrity and privacy across the ecosystem, ensuring compliance with data regulations.

What we are looking for

Experience and Expertise:6-8 years in data management, engineering, governance, analytics, or related IT fields.Demonstrable ability to develop and implement data strategies, roadmaps, and governance frameworks.Experience with Data Lakes, databases, cloud technologies, and BI/Reporting systems.Technical Proficiency:Familiarity with Azure data services (e.g., Azure Data Lake, Data Factory, PowerBI) or equivalent technologies.Knowledge of data management technologies like Hadoop, NoSQL, ETL, and data warehousing.Software development skills, including SQL and Python, and experience with Agile/DevOps methodologies.Leadership and Project Management Skills:Strong programmatic leadership to guide and mentor a high performing team.Excellent project management and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects effectively.Understanding of data regulations, privacy, and ethical data use.Excellent partner management, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills.

Salary range is expected to be between

$124,250.00 USD - $230,750.00 USD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
