Overview The Director of Digital and Restaurant Technology leads the strategy, implementation, and support of all restaurant, marketing and digital technology solutions that enable seamless integration and functionality across Smoothie King’s corporate and franchise locations ensuring operational excellence, scalability, and innovation. As a key technology leader, this position partners closely with operations, marketing, and supply chain teams to align technology solutions with business objectives, enhance guest experience, and drive efficiency in restaurant and digital operations. The Director will also manage vendor relationships, oversee support strategies, and ensure a high-performing, guest-centric technology ecosystem. Digital and Restaurant Technology Strategy & Execution: Develop and execute a comprehensive technology strategy roadmap to optimize restaurant operations and align with brand goals, ensuring scalability, security, and performance. Oversee planning, execution, and continuous improvement of restaurant technology systems to include point-of-sale (POS) systems, back-of-house (BOH) software, payments, recipe management and menu management platforms Define, deliver and have technical oversight for digital guest experience and marketing technology solutions including the Smoothie King App, website 3rd party delivery, online ordering, loyalty and catering. Oversee, manage, and prioritize the deployment, maintenance, and performance of systems, projects, and operational activities. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance digital ordering, loyalty programs, and guest-facing technology. Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions to improve restaurant efficiency and guest experiences. Provide advanced support for complex technical issues, minimizing disruptions to restaurant services. Create and implement training programs to help team to utilize technology systems effectively. Keep up with industry trends and emerging technologies to maintain the company's competitive edge in restaurant technology. Operational Support & Performance Optimization: Define and implement best practices for restaurant technology support, including incident management, system monitoring, and proactive maintenance. Drive automation and self-service solutions to improve system uptime and minimize disruptions. Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess system effectiveness, measure vendor performance, and optimize restaurant technology operations. Ensure timely resolution of technology-related issues impacting restaurant operations. Vendor & Partner Management: Manage strategic vendor partnerships, ensuring SLAs, contracts, and performance standards are met. Lead vendor evaluations, negotiations, and selections for restaurant technology solutions. Maintain partnerships with POS, payment, and software providers, driving continuous enhancements and cost efficiencies. Serve as a trusted advisor to franchise partners, ensuring their technological needs are met and best practices are adopted. Security, Compliance & Data Integrity: Work with IT security teams to implement cybersecurity measures that protect digital and restaurant technology assets and guest data. Ensure compliance with payment processing regulations (PCI) and industry standards. Develop governance around recipe and menu data management, ensuring consistency and accuracy. Establish business continuity plans and disaster recovery strategies for restaurant technology systems. Responsibilities Strong expertise in restaurant technology systems, including POS, BOH software, digital ordering, and payments. Demonstrated experience in leading technology transformation and process improvements within a multi-unit restaurant or retail environment. Ability to develop and execute technology strategies that enhance operational efficiency and guest experience. Strong vendor management, contract negotiation, and partnership development skills. Deep understanding of data security, compliance (PCI), and risk management in the restaurant industry. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop high-performing teams. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field required; master’s degree preferred. 8+ years of experience in IT leadership roles, including enterprise POS, BOH, and payment solutions. Experience in the food service and franchise industry required. Strong track record of leading large-scale technology implementations and system upgrades. Experience leading large-scale deployments of computer software, hardware, and services. Personal passion for health and fitness is a plus.
