Chartwells Higher Education is seeking a dynamic and visionary Food Service Director to lead the daily operations of Penland Dining Hall, a bustling, high-volume residential dining facility at Baylor University in Waco, TX. Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership: Ensure smooth daily operations with a focus on exceptional service delivery.
Team Management: Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team of managers, supervisors, and food service staff.
HR Functions: Oversee recruitment, training, and employee development while fostering a supportive and inclusive workplace.
Client & Customer Satisfaction: Consistently exceed expectations in food quality and service for students, faculty, and visitors.
Financial Oversight: Strategically manage food and labor costs to achieve and exceed financial goals.
Quality Assurance: Uphold the highest standards of sanitation, safety, and compliance.
Culinary Excellence: Partner with culinary teams to deliver innovative, nutritious, and diverse meal options.
Innovation & Program Implementation: Collaborate with marketing and culinary teams to launch new programs that elevate the dining experience.
Additional Duties: Adapt to evolving needs, contributing to the overall success of the dining program.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ B.S. Degree in Food Services Technology/Management or related field; or A.A. Degree plus four years of directly related experience preferred
+ Five to seven years of direct foodservice operational management experience with inventory and purchasing knowledge and control
+ Strong knowledge of food trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
+ Previous P&L accountability or contract-managed service experience is desirable
+ Strong supervisory, leadership, management and coaching skills
+ Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
+ Ability to communicate on various levels to include management, client, customer and associate levels
+ Excellent financial, budgetary, accounting and computational skills
+ Proficient computer skills to include; various computer programs, Microsoft Office programs, e-mail and the Internet
+ ServSafe® Certified
