**WHAT YOU WILL DO**
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. We are seeking an accomplished scientist and leader to serve as Director of Discovery Proteomics. In this vital position you will lead the Amgen Research Discovery Proteomics team based in South San Francisco, CA and Thousand Oaks, CA. The Discovery Proteomics group provides critical insights into target and drug discovery through both enablement of pipeline programs and platform technology development using mass spectrometry. Two key deliverables will be establishing a robust cell surfaceomics platform for target discovery and scaling our high throughput molecular glue degrader screening platform. As a skilled organizational leader, this individual should be an efficient manager, a strong team builder and a collaborator who will provide robust organizational and scientific leadership consistent with Amgen’s culture of innovation and teamwork.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Supervise a group of highly trained scientists in South San Francisco, CA and Thousand Oaks, CA engaged in cutting-edge mass spectrometry-based proteomics to advance our pipeline and technology platforms
+ Contribute to the development and implementation of the research strategy for Discovery Proteomics to impact the entire Amgen Research portfolio
+ Develop effective cross functional relationships with colleagues in therapeutic areas and therapeutic discovery, such as Oncology, Inflammation, Cardiometabolic Disorders, Small Molecule and Large Molecule Discovery. and Bioinformatics

**Basic Qualifications:**
Doctorate degree and 4 years of relevant industry experience
**Or**
Master’s degree and 8 years of relevant industry experience
**Or**
Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of relevant industry experience
In addition to meeting at least one of the above requirements, you must have at least 4 years experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs, or directing the allocation or resources. Your managerial experience may run concurrently with the required technical experience referenced above
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ A proven track record of scientific innovation and accomplishment in mass spectrometry and proteomics, as demonstrated by a strong publication record, patent submissions, and presentations at leading conferences
+ A deep technical understanding of mass spectrometry and data analysis for proteomics research, including DIA, TMT, PTM analysis, proximity proteomics, chemoproteomics, and cross-linking mass spectrometry
+ Demonstrated experience in the application of discovery proteomics for advancing novel drug discovery programs
+ An understanding of the emerging technologies in mass spectrometry-based proteomics, such as photocatalytic proximity labeling
+ Expertise in establishing high throughput platforms for generation and analysis of large proteomics datasets
+ Strong written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
+ Experience in leading, mentoring and developing the careers of a diverse and talented team
+ An ability to build strong and productive relationships with peers and cross functional partners

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
