Job DescriptionAs the Director of Engineering at Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU, you will have the unique opportunity to blend technical acumen with hospitality, ensuring our esteemed property operates flawlessly and efficiently. Your role is crucial in maintaining the hotel's luxurious ambiance and functionality. You will lead a dedicated team in managing all aspects of hotel maintenance, from mechanical systems to guest comfort, adhering to the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities Operational Excellence: Efficiently coordinate and operate all heating, lighting, power, and repair & maintenance tasks, ensuring cost-effectiveness, legal compliance, and safety.Facility Inspection and Maintenance: Regularly inspect the physical facility and equipment. Supervise a comprehensive maintenance and preventative maintenance program.Interdepartmental Coordination: Collaborate with other departments to maintain general conditions and adhere to safety, health standards, and legal requirements set by hotel policies.Team Leadership and Development: Interview, hire, train, and discipline engineering staff in coordination with the Director of Associate Services. Directly supervise engineering associates, optimizing utility operations for guest comfort and efficient hotel services.Project Management and Budgeting: Recommend capital budget projects, obtain bids, and oversee contractors for project execution. Manage special permits and licenses as required.Staff and Resource Management: Control schedules, staffing, and payroll for the Engineering team. Maintain personnel records, utility logs, and engineering records.Preventative Maintenance Program: Oversee the PM program for meeting rooms, guest rooms, heart of the house, and offices.Vendor and Contractor Oversight: Ensure timely and accurate completion of work by external vendors and contractors.Administrative Duties: Process purchase orders in Birchstreet, manage work requests in Synergy, and adjust temperatures via the hotel's Building Management System (BMS). Qualifications Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role in hotel engineering or a similar field.Technical Skills: Expertise in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems pertinent to hotel operations.Leadership and Management: Strong leadership skills with a proven track record in team and operational management.Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills: Ability to handle complex situations and multiple responsibilities simultaneously.Communication: Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork and guest relations.Certifications and Licenses: Relevant industry certifications and licenses as required by local authorities.
