The Four Seasons Resort and Residences Napa Valley is looking for a Director of Engineering/Facilities who shares a passion for excellence and who infuses enthusiasm into everything they do.

Our Director of Engineering/Facilities has the opportunity to shape our guest experience by providing exceptional knowledge of the Resort and exemplifying the Golden Rule in each interaction.

The Role:

The Director of Engineering/Facilities forms part of the Resort's Executive Leadership Team who collectively make key strategic and operational decisions for the Resort.

The Director oversees a team of Engineering and Maintenance specialists responsible for all engineering operations for interior/exterior facilities including plumbing, refrigeration, heating/cooling, painting, carpentry, structural, recycling, electrical, ground care and parking areas.

Responsible for energy/green initiative systems and management of other engineering work necessary to maintain the property in an efficient condition to ensure the safety and comfort of guests and employees.

Demonstrate strong project management skills, including the ability to lead capital improvements throughout the Resort.  

Control labor and operating expenses through effective planning, budgeting, purchasing decisions, policy making, and inventory control while focusing on creative cost control to maximize profit in the division and hotel. 

Is responsible for Life/Fire safety systems, energy/green initiative systems and management of other engineering work necessary to maintain the property in an efficient condition to ensure the safety and comfort of guests and employees.  

Assists in the hiring, training, supervision, scheduling, counseling, and evaluation of performance and planning the activities of maintenance staff including making spot checks on a daily basis.

Ensure proper execution of work order/request system and that items are followed up on when necessary.  

Prepare requisitions for purchase and work orders and liaise effectively with the Director of Purchasing.  

Implement preventive maintenance schedules, policies and rules to ensure an efficient department and well-maintained physical product.  

Maintain logs on movement of stock items and tools and monitor distribution of items.

Position does require some travelling.

Who You Are:

Previous Director of Engineering experience preferred with at least five years of Managerial experience in hotel/resort environment.

Solid project management skills, evidence a strong work/ethic, adaptability and flexibility, a team player and leadership skills.

Strong business acumen including experience at creating an annual budget for hotel operations, capital improvements, expenses, and labor; with the ability to adjust the forecast accordingly. 

Must be able to stay organized and problem solve effectively in a fast paced, multi-faceted environment, handling many tasks at the same time. 

Qualifications are required either a Professional degree in an Engineering discipline, trade degree in a specific technical field relating to Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Civil Engineering) or CEOE – Certified Engineering Operations Executive from the Hotel and motel Hospitality Association, Building Owners Management Institution (BOMI) designation, Real Property Administrator (RPA), Facility Management Administrator (FMA) or Systems Maintenance Administrator (SMA).

Salary Range: $150,000 - $168,000 Depending on Experience
