The Director of Facilities at Pine Canyon is responsible for overseeing the planning, development, and maintenance of all facilities and infrastructure. Pine Canyon’s buildings are over 20 years old, requiring focused attention on both ongoing maintenance and upcoming major projects, including roof replacements, HVAC system upgrades, and pool remodeling. This role ensures that Pine Canyon’s facilities are managed efficiently, safely, and to the highest standard. Key areas of focus include construction and project management, maintenance operations, safety protocols, and sustainability initiatives. The Director of Facilities works closely with the General Manager, Symmetry Companies VP of Construction, and outside contractors to achieve the community’s operational and strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilities and Infrastructure Management
Oversee the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of all Pine Canyon facilities, grounds, and infrastructure, including the clubhouse, recreational areas, and cabin units. Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to ensure long-term care of facilities and grounds. Coordinate with the General Manager and team to address and prioritize daily operational needs and long-term infrastructure goals.Construction and Project Management
Lead the planning and execution of construction projects, renovations, and facility upgrades across Pine Canyon. Manage all project phases, including scope development, budgeting, scheduling, contractor selection, permitting, and compliance. Maintain a high standard of quality and ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and on budget. Collaborate with interior designers, engineers, and vendors to execute Pine Canyon’s design and operational vision. Prepare regular project status reports and communicate progress with Pine Canyon leadership.Budgeting and Financial Management
Develop and manage the facilities budget, including maintenance, staffing, supplies, and project expenses. Evaluate operational expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or service standards. Track expenditures, monitor budget performance, and report variances to the General Manager.Team Leadership and Development
Recruit, train, and manage a team of facilities and maintenance staff, fostering a positive, productive, and safety-focused work environment. Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide guidance, and identify professional development opportunities. Establish a culture of accountability, proactive problem-solving, and exceptional member service.Safety and Compliance
Ensure Pine Canyon’s compliance with all local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations. Develop and enforce safety protocols to protect members, staff, and contractors. Conduct regular inspections, address safety concerns, and maintain compliance documentation. Coordinate emergency response plans and train staff on facility safety protocols.Sustainability and Efficiency
Lead sustainability initiatives that align with Pine Canyon’s values and community goals. Identify and implement energy-saving and environmentally friendly practices for facilities operations. Assess and recommend upgrades for energy efficiency and sustainability, including lighting, water systems, and landscaping practices.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities management, including construction and project management within a resort, club, or hospitality environment. Strong project management skills with experience in budget development, contractor management, and project scheduling. Excellent understanding of local building codes, safety regulations, and facility-related compliance. Proficient in facilities management software, project management tools, and MS Office. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively across departments and interact professionally with Pine Canyon members, contractors, and team members. A proactive problem-solver with a commitment to quality and service excellence.Working Conditions:
Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, based on facility needs. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Capable of lifting and moving equipment or materials up to 50 lbs.
