Director of Finance
Description We are in search of a Director of Finance. This role will involve supervising a team, handling accounting functions, and leading financial operations within a government setting. Responsibilities: • Oversee the annual budgeting and forecasting process. • Supervise accounting functions and ensure adherence to GASB standards. • Utilize accounting software systems to manage financial data accurately. • Handle the accounts payable process, ensuring all transactions are carried out efficiently. • Conduct regular auditing of financial records to ensure accuracy and compliance. • Lead the financial team, fostering detail oriented development and growth. • Manage financial aspects of the county government, ensuring all financial operations align with legal standards. • Implement and maintain effective budget processes. • Oversee the preparation and presentation of financial reports. • Collaborate with senior accountants and other team members to achieve financial objectives. Requirements • Must have at least 5 years of experience in a finance-related role, preferably as a Director of Finance or similar. • Extensive knowledge of Accounting Software Systems is necessary. • Proficiency in Accounting Functions, including but not limited to Accounts Payable (AP), Annual Budget, and Auditing. • Experience with Budget Processes and Budgeting - Forecasting is required. • Familiarity with County government financial operations is desirable. • Understanding of GASB (Government Accounting Standards Board) standards is essential. • Candidates should have a proven track record of effective financial management and accountability. • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team. • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary. • Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. An advanced degree or detail oriented certification is desirable. • High level of analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide insights. • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in handling sensitive financial information. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, is required. • Candidates must have strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. • Must be a strategic thinker, with the ability to contribute to the company's financial strategy and planning.
