Director of Finance

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Other duties may be assigned. Some Travel Required.

Manage and maintain internal controls and compliance in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Box Office/Ticketing, and all finance-related processes. Ensure compliance for tax reporting purposes.Review and sign off on bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, and other financial analyses as needed.Create, maintain, and manage budgeting and forecasting, including operating budgets, monthly forecasting, capital budgets, and cash flow analysis.Perform and manage show-related activities such as settlements, accounting, and event reporting.Oversee the accounting for box office/ticketing funds.Supervise the process of recording manual journal entries and ensure accounting records are complete and accurate.Ensure that internal procedures related to financial operations, such as the PO process, purchase process, expense reporting, and invoice processing, are being followed.Manage accounting and box office teams to ensure all financial work is performed on time and with accuracy.Ensure teams adhere to deadlines and ensure the accuracy of all financial work.Assist in the education of other departments on finance-related matters to improve understanding and compliance with financial procedures.Work with outside auditors to complete the annual audit and issue audited financial statements.Prepare financial statements, budget reports, and event flash reports in a timely and accurate manner.Manage the facility’s cash flow needs, investing idle funds while maintaining a minimum operating account balance to fund operations.Oversee all Payroll, Accounts Payable, & Accounts Receivable functions.Maintain a thorough understanding of Food & Beverage (F&B) cost management, ensuring proper accounting and cost controls for F&B operations within the venue. Oversee and manage F&B cost accounting processes, including inventory tracking, vendor payments, and cost analysis to ensure profitability and adherence to budget.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Hire, train, and retain finance and accounting staff, including Box Office and Accounting teams.Manage and provide leadership to the accounting and box office teams, ensuring they adhere to deadlines, follow internal procedures, and maintain accuracy in their work.

Education and Experience

B.S. in Accounting or Finance from a 4-year college/university or equivalentMinimum 5-7 years of related work experienceExperience in developing and implementing policies and procedures, as well as financial systems and controls.Capable of handling all aspects of the accounting cycle and principles and techniques of venue operationExperience using Excel, Word, and PowerPointExperience with Microsoft D365 preferred.Experience in the facilities/arena management industry (Preferred, not required)

Skills and Abilities

Strong business acumen and ability to influence change and drive results.Extensive knowledge of general and cost accounting, including F&B cost accountingExcellent math skills; high aptitude for figuresExcellent communication, interpersonal skills, and organizational abilityAbility to work with and maintain highly confidential information.Strong supervisory skillsStrong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate well both inside and outside the organization.Strong organizational skills with attention to detailExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills essential.

Computer Skills

Extensive knowledge of accounting software, spreadsheets, and word processing software

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

CPA is preferred.

Other Skills and Abilities

Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality and judgment regarding privileged information.Ability to work under above-average pressure in meeting urgent deadlines.Ability to work long, irregular hours and weekends as dictated by event schedules and projects.Must be able to prioritize and complete work assignments on a timely basis.
