Idaho Public Television (PTV) (https://www.idahoptv.org/) has an exciting and very rare opportunity for an enthusiastic, dynamic, talented team member to join our Leadership team as the station’s Director of Finance. This position demands a detail-oriented, strategic professional with strong leadership and communication skills to ensure Idaho Public Television’s financial sustainability.

Idaho Public Television is a PBS member station and Idaho’s only statewide educational broadcast network. We are a state agency under the Idaho State Board of Education. Our nonprofit arm, The Friends of Idaho Public Television, Inc., provides private support for our content and educational content efforts and allows us to produce award-winning long form documentaries, quality public affairs journalism, podcasts, and educational events. POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Finance for Idaho Public Television (IPTV) provides executive-level financial leadership for the agency, overseeing fiscal policy development, budgeting, grant administration, and financial reporting. This position ensures compliance with state and federal regulations, offers strategic recommendations to leadership, and integrates financial processes across multiple offices. This position collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, including the Friends of Idaho Public Television, Inc., to advance IPTV’s mission and goals.
EXAMPLES OF RESPONSIBILITIES.
Key Responsibility #1: Provides executive-level, strategic financial management for Idaho Public Television including:;
+ Oversees the design, development, and implementation of changes to the accounting and management systems for compliance with laws, regulations, policies, and standards
+ Oversees multiple accounts of short-term investments related to future cash flows and revenue generation from cash reserves, including the Friends of Idaho Public Television, Inc.
+ Oversees private and federal grant administration and financial reporting Attends Friends of Idaho Public Television, Inc. board meetings providing financial reports, information, and recommendations as requested
Key Responsibility #2: Oversee the activities of the accounting department including all aspects of accounting, budgeting, purchasing:
+ Serves as the Business Manager of Idaho Public Television
+ Prepare and supervise the preparation of our financial statements for audit
+ Oversee the preparation of monthly financial reports Develops, recommends, and implements financial policy and procedures
+ Provides management, consultation, and decision-making into the agency’s short-and long-term processes not only related to financial matters, but to the application of information technology, capital improvement projects, policy-making authority, internal controls, facilities, and the evaluation of programs to further the agency’s mission
+ Oversee IdahoPTV’s position budgeting and annual CEC development and calculation
Key Responsibility #3: Lead, Motivate, and Develop Financial Affairs Department Managers & Staff:
+ Manages personnel within the Financial Department and interacts with other organization staff members.
+ Motivate and mentor managers within the department to become effective leaders of staff and to support department and agency goals
+ Demonstrates leadership competence including motivating people, leading teams through change, measuring and managing performance, facilitating meetings, and developing processes and policies designed to optimize the effectiveness and productivity of the department and its members
+ Exhibit exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
Key Responsibility #4: Member of Agency Leadership Team:
+ Skilled at establishing and cultivating strong relationships with peers, across different levels of the organization and externally
+ Work with others to reach common goals and objectives
+ Assist and/or lead efforts, depending on needs, for contracts with vendors
+ Monitor and report on legislation that could affect the agency
+ Be available to accompany and support the General Manger in meetings with the Governor’s office, the Division of Financial Management, Legislators, Legislative Services and other outside stakeholders
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Good knowledge of:
+ Public Sector accounting and finance
+ Accounting and Finance principles and practices
Experience:
+ Analyzing financial activities and recommending action
+ Developing and preparing financial documents Interpreting laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
+ Demonstrated competency in management and leadership
+ Supervising professional staff
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
It is not required for the position but applicants with this experience may receive consideration over other applicants.
+ Graduation from a full four (4) year college with a bachelor’s degree related to the position responsibilities with at least 20 semester credit hours in accounting and five (5) years of related experience; or, seven (7) years of successful and progressive related experience of such a nature as to enable the applicant to perform his or her duties successfully at the professional level
+ Master’s Degree, Certified Government Financial Manager® or Certified Professional Accountant
+ Non-Profit financial and/or Public Broadcasting financial experience a plus
+ Expertise in Excel
+ Leadership experience at the director level is preferred
EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:
+ Current and comprehensive knowledge of state and federal laws, rules and regulations, including: GASB/GAAP, IRS rules for non-profits
+ Leading a fiscal team for all related processes, including G/L, revenue and expense, asset management, risk management, grants, and purchasing
+ Preparing annual financial reports that are subject to full audits
+ Knowledge of state accounting systems (such as Luma) and fund accounting systems (such as Navigator)
+ Ability to work in a team environment by providing internal and external customer service
+ Demonstrates the ability to complete work in a timely manner, keep commitments, be accountable and stay balanced under pressure
+ Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills
+ Sets and follows priorities, uses time effectively, achieves work goals
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
+ Provides executive-level, strategic financial management for Idaho Public Television Management including:
+ Develops, recommends, and implements financial policy and procedures of the Boise, Moscow, and Pocatello offices to ensure agency-wide integration and compliance with state and agency financial and business matters.
+ Oversees multiple accounts of short-term investments related to future cash flows and revenue generation from cash reserves, including the Friends of Idaho Public Television, Inc.
+ Oversees private and federal grant administration and financial reporting
+ Attends Friends of Idaho Public Television, Inc. board meetings providing financial reports, information, and recommendations as requested
