Summary: The Director of Finance to lead financial operations within our Gaming Division. Reporting to the Casino General Manager, you'll oversee budgeting, financial analysis, regulatory compliance, and staff supervision. Responsibilities:
Develops, analyzes, and interprets statistical and accounting information to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the casino resort. Monitors, oversees, and provides direction to direct reports in accordance with all policies, rules, regulations, and tribal ordinances as adopted by the Stockbridge-Munsee Tribal Council. To include but not limited to; the Finance Department, Payroll, Player Services, Title 31 Compliance, Purchasing Manager, Inventory Clerk, and the Count Team. Assists in the establishment of major economic objectives and procedures for the casino resort and prepares reports that outline the casino resort’s financial position in the areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and future operations. Coordinates and directs the preparation of the annual budget and financial forecast, institutes and maintains other planning and control procedures (including the cost accounting system) and analyzes and report variances. Implement system of internal financial controls casino-wide to protect tribal assets and promote accurate financial reporting. Consolidate, review, and prepare monthly financial package consisting of all departments under the Gaming Division. Address and correct audit findings regarding financial operations. Conduct performance analysis for all gaming entities in a timely and consistent manner. Prepare and submit regulatory reports on a timely basis including those required by the NIGC, IGRA, FinCen, the Bank Secrecy Act, Tribal Gaming Commission and other relevant laws, regulations, and agencies. Implement industry best practices/standards and continuously improve areas under the Finance Office. Must work cooperatively with all regulatory boards. Develop performance measures for all areas under the Finance Office to monitor work performance and take corrective action when necessary. Be an effective communicator to ensure financial staff clearly understand their duties and have the proper resources to carry out those duties. Promote positive public and employee relations that enable North Star Mohican Casino Resort to be the state’s friendliest casino. Must attend all training as required by the employer. Must participate in employee random drug testing program. Must be able to work with a variety of people with diverse personalities. Must attend all meetings, as required by the employer. Must dress professionally. Must be reliable and prompt when reporting to work. Must adhere to and maintain compliance with all workplace policies, procedures, rules, ordinances, laws, and other communicated expectations, including but not limited to: Employment Manual, gaming Ordinance, State Gaming Compact, Minimum Internal Controls, Department Procedures, memos, and other communication from supervisory or regulatory personnel. All other assigned duties.Qualifications & Education:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or economics is required. Five (5) years of supervisory operational experience in Finance, Accounting or Economics is required. Five (5) years of supervisory operational experience in gaming finance preferred. Be able to demonstrate extensive knowledge and experience in the fundamental operational areas of Finance, Accounting, Cage/Vault, Count Team, and Title 31 Compliance. Three (3) years of management or supervisor experience is required that includes: Development of department standard operating procedures. Development and monitoring of multiple department budgets. Supervision of staff which includes hiring, training, disciplinary issues, and performance evaluations. Must demonstrate the ability to: Organize, prioritize, and implement assigned duties in an efficient and effective manner. Effectively learn new industry practices. Define problem areas within the Gaming Departments and develop plans to correct the problems. Multi-task on different projects and directives at one time. Handle pressure situations in a professional and calm manner. Communicate effectively (verbal and written) in day-to-day, pressure, and challenging situations. Must possess and demonstrate strong analytical and decision-making skills to effectively manage the Finance Office and direct reports under the Gaming Division. Demonstrated ability to comprehend and operate within federal, state, and tribal regulatory guidelines. Must have demonstrated ability to maintain satisfactory working record in any prior or current employment. Must submit three (3) references that reflect the experience and character of the applicant. Must possess a valid Wisconsin driver’s license and have insured transportation. Must meet the insurability guidelines of Mohican Nation Insurance. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Mohican Nation Gaming License. Must submit to a Criminal Investigation Background Check (CIB). Must maintain an acceptable departmental attendance record. Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug screening and health screening. Must be able to work weekends, nights, and holidays.Work Conditions:
Frequent standing, walking, talking, and hearing required. Frequent use of hands for handling, feeling, reaching, and grasping. Occasional stooping, kneeling, and/or crouching may be necessary. Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to thirty (30) pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and depth perception. Evening and/or weekend work may be necessary, with extended hours and irregular shifts possible. Excellent personal hygiene is required due to working near others.
