The Director of Finance and Operational Analytics supports the AVP of Finance through leadership of the ‘PCS Analytics Team’ for accurate data collection, processing, modeling and analysis for all PCS departments. Ensures team meets organizational goals, objective and deadlines around Power BI dashboards, forecasting, and budget. Collaborates with all hospital leadership to ensure successful implementation of priority initiatives that support quality, financial, and business operations. Specifically, streamline data access so analytics team can transform large datasets into meaningful business initiatives by critically evaluating information from various sources, distinguishing user needs from actual business needs, and partnering with stakeholders and project managers.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following:
Financial Management Conduct monthly financial reviews, budget planning, capital requests, and financial and operational reporting for Patient Care Services (PCS) Manage position control process, including new/replacement positions, agency requests, and resource utilization Perform ad-hoc analyses to maximize operational effectiveness and resource utilization Analytics and Insights Manage the entire analytic process, from gathering stakeholder requirements to presenting findings Conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses using SQL, Power BI, and Excel Produce and communicate analyses in clear, actionable formats (visual, written, and verbal) for internal and external stakeholders. Conduct operational and financial benchmarking to identify and address performance gaps Strategic Initiatives Collaborate with senior leadership to identify strategic performance opportunities and lead cross-functional teams to design and implement improvement plans. Contribute to the development of business plans for new programs and capital expenditures, presenting findings to senior leadership Support changes to technology platforms and care delivery models in PCS Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors. Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s in Business, Finance, or Healthcare Administration required. Master’s degree strongly preferred. 5-7 years’ experience in healthcare setting or directly related experience required. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Access). Ability to write complex SQL queries, optimize performance, and work with large datasets Proficient in Data Visualization principles and comfortable using visualization applications (experience with Power BI highly preferred) Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize large datasets and maintain attention to detail. Understanding of database structures, hospital operations, and revenue cycle processes. Demonstrated leadership and team-building capabilities. Knowledge of organizational budgeting processes preferred. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Proven project management expertise with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

The position works closely with members of the various teams throughout the hospital and must be able to maintain productive working relationships. A copy of the SDS data base can also be found at the hospital switchboard, saved on a disc. Ability to concentrate for extended periods of time and with distractions. Must be able to travel to and from events and multiple venues using own transportation. Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to follow through on assignments without supervision. Constantly utilizes/operates computer to access information.
