Job Description:
Salad and Go is seeking a Director of Food Safey & Quality Assurance who is responsible for ensuring that all food products produced in our Central Kitchens meet all safety standards, regulatory requirements and quality benchmarks. This role will lead the FSQA teams and direct all programs and processes related to our Quality Management System and our rigorous standards for food safety and quality.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in food safety and quality assurance, including industry guidance and standards for Safe Quality Food production and documentation. They will also have a proven track record of building and leading successful FSQA teams across multiple facilities.
As the Director of Food Safety & Quality Assurance, you will:
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal food safety regulations, as well as 3rd party standards (e.g. FDA, USDA, FSMA, HACCP, GFSI).
Lead and motivate the FSQA team through regular and continuous communication with the site-specific leaders, while providing coaching, guidance and direction.
Lead activities, programs, and all required documentation to prepare the Central kitchens to meet the rigorous standards of 3rd party food safety audit requirements (e.g. BRC, SQF, etc.). Includes successfully scheduling, preparing, maintaining and executing a defined 3rd party audit schedule.
Manage and continuously improve current programs, including HACCP, allergen control and microbiological testing, including daily quality and food safety document requirements in coordination with Corporate Quality Procedures, ensuring we remain ahead of changing requirements.
Oversee documentation for the ongoing implementation of Salad and Go’s Food Safety program and regulatory requirements, ensuring that all aspects of FSMA/HACCP plan development, documentation and control are in place.
Lead investigations and resolve food safety incidents, implementing corrective and preventative actions (CAPA).
Lead with a mindset of continuous improvement. Continuously challenge the team to work with a mindset of continuous improvement, finding opportunities to improve processes through tools such as Kaizen, GAP Analysis, CAPA, etc.
Develop and manage crisis management plans for food safety incidents, including product recalls. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to manage incidents effectively and communicate with stakeholders.
Effectively manage routine day-to-day quality with review of quality records and provide direction for plant and product continuous improvement.
Further develop training programs for site-specific food safety and product processes, including training team members in quality systems, physical processes, and compliance matters.
Requirements:
BS, MS, or PhD degree in a food science-related discipline with 7+ years of leadership and FSQA manufacturing experience.
HACCP, SQF, BRC, or PCQI Certifications are highly desirable.
Strong experience leading FSQA teams, in multiple facilities
Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, with strong communication skills.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze data to drive decision making.
Meticulous attention to detail to ensure compliance and maintain high quality standards.
Must display an excellent understanding of FSQA & sanitation practices and the effectiveness of verification.
Strong understanding of compliance and quality standards including FDA Regulations applicable to US Food Manufacturing and Labeling.
Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control analysis in food manufacturing environment (Six Sigma, WinSPC, Power BI, Tableau).
Experience in Produce and RTE Food manufacturing environment highly preferred.
Extensive knowledge in computer systems, excel, macros, pivots, access, Tableau, and applications.
Extensive knowledge in microbiology/chemistry of food products, and the ability to communicate this information effectively.
