Job Description:
The Director of Global Procurement will be responsible for managing procurement for Caterpillar's Building Construction Products division. Building Construction Products is part of Caterpillar's Construction Industries Segment, responsible for the design, operations, procurement, sales, marketing, and product support of Caterpillar’s compact, versatile construction machines and attachments business.
The Director of Global Procurement manages the strategic synergies by developing deep expertise and leading a globally diverse team of category managers to create and sustain a high-performing global supply network.
Responsibilities:
• Leading the development and implementation of the supply network strategy for their specific categories.
• Identifying performance gaps within the supply base and develop improvement plans for the identified gaps
• Establishing global category priorities based on benefits and opportunities, and ensures conformance and compliance with all major certifying agencies both internal and external to the enterprise.
• Owning the supplier relationship management for their specific categories at an executive leadership level.
Degree Requirement:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience desired.

• Prepares reports to evaluate the impact of category management on the procurement process and present ROI data to management.
• Supervises the execution of all stages of the category management process.
• Trains others on category management to ensure a streamlined procurement process.
Supplier Management - MFG:
Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice.
• Facilitates supplier partnering arrangements that share risk and reward.
• Monitors supplier performance; works to resolve discrepancies between performance and agreements.
• Develops quality standards and controls for suppliers.
• Builds and maintains partnerships with multiple and/or large suppliers.
• Evaluates issues and terminates supplier relationships as appropriate; works with legal departments.
• Ensures the fulfillment of report and record-keeping requirements.
Strategic Sourcing:
Knowledge of strategic sourcing methods, technologies and processes; ability to analyze, improve and re-evaluate organizational procurement process continuously.
• Deploys and directs strategic sourcing in multiple and diverse environments and applications.
• Plays a leadership role in establishing strategic sourcing standards, policies, strategy and best practices.
• Leads discussions on industry and marketplace trends and directions regarding strategic sourcing, citing relevant case studies.
• Mentors others on all major strategic sourcing functions, issues and considerations.
• Develops a theoretical background and understanding of strategic sourcing and provides a historical and future perspective.
• Influences organization-wide or high-impact decisions and initiatives directly regarding strategic sourcing.
Location:
This role has the option to be located in Sanford, NC or Athens, GA. Domestic relocation is offered for this role.
