Finance Compliance and Grants
Position overview:
The Business Office at IDEA Public Schools strives to support leadership as we work together to meet and exceed our ambitious financial and student achievement goals. The Business Office’s Treasury and Grants Team aims to serve as the heart of IDEA’s financial growth engine by providing best-in-class leadership in grants administration and finance compliance.
As the Director of Grants, you will be responsible for managing critical internal and external stakeholder relationships to ensure best-in-class financial stewardship of public and private grants for IDEA Public Schools and all related entities. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position based in Texas with preference given to candidates who live in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, or Tarrant County, or who are willing to relocate. The role will require some travel (less than 20%) on an as-needed basis for internal trainings, grantor meetings, team step-backs, conferences, and professional development events. The position will form part of an expanding Finance Compliance and Grants team offering career growth opportunities.
Location:
This is a full-time remote position based in Texas with preference given to candidates who live in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin (Midland/Odessa), Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Tarrant County (Fort Worth), or who are willing to relocate.
In this role you will:
· Create a vision for best-in-class grant management at IDEA, from the application stage through execution and reporting.
· Develop and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) and proactively report on progress to senior leadership, as well as fiduciary and advisory boards.
· Partner with technical grants personnel to ensure that grant budgets, cash flow forecasts and financial reports are accurate and aligned with grantor intent and compliance regulations.
· Lead the creation and implementation of cross-functional internal data-sharing and communications systems to ensure proper stewardship of grant funds.
· Partner with the Advancement team on grant applications and annual reporting, helping the team to translate technical financial information to compelling grantor requests and reports.
· Create and lead trainings for headquarters and campus-based staff – including program managers, business clerks, budget analysts, accounts payable team members, procurement personnel and other internal stakeholders – on public and private grant execution and compliance with Education Department General Administrative Regulations (EDGAR) protocols.
· Serve as an IDEA Business Office representative in direct grantor engagements, include phone, email and in-person interactions with program managers and donors.
· Manage a holistic grant calendar for IDEA and related entities, ensuring that key deadlines and milestones are met, and renegotiating timeframes where appropriate.
· Lead special projects as assigned by the Managing Director of Grants and the Vice President of Treasury & Grants
Required experience:
• At least 2-3 years of experience managing public and private grants
• Bachelor’s Degree in public/non-profit administration, business administration, accounting, finance, economics or related field AND 3-5 years in education, public/non-profit management, or related field;
• Or any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job

Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $98,200 and $115,900, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for performance pay based on organizational performance and goal attainment.
