is responsible for maintaining and expanding the agency's large and diverse real estate portfolio. Our mission is to reduce homelessness and provide a life of purpose by ensuring that all residents have a safe, clean, and affordable place to call home, and that our staff have the right work environment to carry out this mission. The team currently oversees a dynamic pipeline of affordable and supportive housing, with 900 units in construction and another 1000 in predevelopment.

 

We are seeking a Director of Housing Compliance to ensure that S:US properties adhere to the requirements of all federal and local funding received. This position, reporting to the Vice President of Affordable Housing, will play a key role in maintaining compliance with income qualification, rent restrictions, special needs, homeless requirements, student status, and more. The Director of Housing Compliance will work closely with Facilities and LP Finance to ensure all standards are met.

Qualifications

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Serve as the main contact for all auditor requests and physical inspections requested by lenders, investors, and government partners.Conduct second reviews and lead reporting to all funders, ensuring adherence to the required reports, processes, and deadlines.Submit all required documents and income certifications during the initial lease-up of new developments.Review and submit completed files from the initial lease-up/occupancy phase of new properties, ensuring thorough review for errors and adherence to due dates.Collaborate with the team to make necessary changes to internal forms as required by NYC, NYS, and other funders.Prepare monthly subsidy contract billing.Work with Facilities to collect required documents for file reviews and property inspections conducted by funders.Prepare the team for new projects to be added to the portfolio, including HRA master lease compliance, Mt. Eden rent-up and ongoing compliance work, S:US OMH portfolio leasing & compliance, and more.Represent Housing Compliance on internal working groups such as Legal, Yardi upgrade, and Rent Arrears.Manage a team of up to 8 staff, including periodic performance evaluations, timesheet approvals, vacation requests, and professional development.

Required Education and Experience:

Experience in managing a Housing Compliance Department with multiple layers of funding requirements such as Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) – Section 42, HOME Final Rule, Section 811 Program, HTF, and Affordable Housing Program, including advanced knowledge of local, state, and federal requirements.Relevant Quadel Certifications.Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.Passionate about the S:US mission and the provision of supportive housing.Ability to work independently or as part of a team.Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.Strong interpersonal skills.Strong multitasking ability.Responsive and able to work in a fast-paced environment, often under the pressure of strict deadlines.Excellent communicator with a collaborative, problem-solving approach.Self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team and independently.

The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $110,000 per annum, in accordance with NYC pay transparency laws.
