About the Position:

The Director of Human Resources position is responsible for leading the Human Resources team and daily operations of the department in line with the company’s business strategy and goals.

Essential Job Functions:

Ownership of HR Systems, Processes & Policies, Benefits & Wellness, Property & Casualty/Risk Management programs, Retirement, LOA, Compensation, Recruiting, Onboarding, Compliance, Legal & Regulatory Reporting, Employee Engagement, & Performance Management. Effectively manage the Human Resources department to ensure efficient productivity, as well as ensure the department is meeting the needs of internal clients in a timely manner. Develop, maintain, and lead the company wide human capital strategy. Act as the internal consultant and business partner to managers to anticipate, identify and facilitate resolution of employee relations issues consistent with company policies/practices, legal considerations, and company priorities. Effective and compliant management of the company’s health and welfare plans, retirement plan, worker’s compensation insurance programs including leading the annual policy renewal, annual enrollment processes, claim reporting, investigation, and audits. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and administer company safety programs. Timely response to government agency inquiries including participation in unemployment hearings. Deliver and develop training presentations or tools to employees or management, such as new hire orientations, benefits presentations, manager development, employee training, etc. Ensures proper administration of leave of absence and FMLA programs. Compensation administration including job description analysis, wage and salary surveys and performance review processes. Lead projects, as assigned, which includes the ability to present results or recommendations with financial or supporting information. Foster a teamwork/open-door environment conducive to positive dialogue across the organization. Create and timely distribute employee communication materials. Provide reporting data packages and reports. Other duties, as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Project management and organization. Daily supervision of staff. Onboarding of all new hires, including full training, in the department. Performs staff annual reviews in conjunction with the department managers for their direct reports. Partners with the team to request/review/present staff disciplinary action as needed. Monitors processes, compliance, and regulations while providing education and feedback. Serves as a resource for the staff by answering questions, conducting training, preparing educational materials, and mentoring. Monitors staff assignments, targets, and workflow and ensures coverage. Maintains a comprehensive list of assignments and ensures they are appropriate. Responsible for keeping the employee data accurate and current in the HRIS system.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Ability to satisfactorily meet Company measured goals and objectives. Ability to adapt to change. Ability to learn and become proficient in all workflows within each platform within the department. Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams. Advanced Microsoft Excel Skill required. Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.

Education and Experience:

Minimum of 7 years of experience in a Human Resources role, plus a minimum of 3 years of experience managing a department or team. Bachelor’s degree in related field or a combination of education and experience preferred. PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification preferred. 2-5 years of experience with the Wage and Hour Compliance guidelines, IRS, and FLSA restrictions.
