Director of HR Investigations

 

Position overview:

The Director of Human Resources Investigations directly reports to the Vice President of Human Resources and is responsible for overseeing and conducting investigations of alleged employee misconduct and managing the most complex and sensitive HR related cases within IDEA, including unlawful discrimination and harassment, company policy violations, and other employee relations matters. The Director of Human Resources Investigations will supervise a team of investigators and work collaboratively to deliver efficient and systematic resolution to investigations, coordinate and interpret board policy and administrative procedures, and serve as a resource to district administrators regarding various employee discipline issues.

 

Location: This is a full-time position based in Texas with preference given to candidates who live in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin (Midland/Odessa), Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Tarrant County (Fort Worth), or who are willing to relocate.

 

Travel Expectations: Occasional training (10%) and team meetings may require local and out-of-state travel.

 

 What You’ll Do – Accountabilities

 

Essential Duties:

Complete intake and assessment of employee complaints of discrimination, harassment, and misconduct based on protected identity, including complaints of sexual misconductReview and analyze all interviews, documents, and evidence collected and submit completed investigation reports, with supporting documentation, to the appropriate personnelEstablish timely communication with all parties, including those with a need to know in order to recommend/make appropriate and timely decisions

 

What You Bring – Competencies

 

Required experience:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required; master’s degree preferredCertified Forensic Investigator Certification preferred Minimum 5 years of demonstrated experience in investigating incidents, or grievance investigation and resolutionMinimum 5 years of full-time professional experience in investigations, employee relations, HR, or a related fieldFluency in Spanish preferredSupervisory experience preferred

 

Knowledge and Skills:

Compensation & Benefits:

Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $89,600 and $105,300, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for performance pay based on organizational performance and goal attainment.
