Summary: The Director of Radiology directs the daily activities of the Radiology Department, to include Radiology modalities of PACS and Specialty Imaging. Responsible for budgets, equipment, and providing input to the V.P. of Clinical Services in all employment and budgetary decisions affecting the Imaging Department. Performs specialized tasks involving Imaging and special procedures and assumes responsibility for accuracy and timeliness in reporting. Qualifications Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field is required. Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field preferred. Graduate of an approved AMA School of Radiologic Technology. A minimum of 5 years of Supervisory experience is required in a Radiology Department. Must have knowledge and experience in managing PACS, diagnostic radiology, mammography, ultrasound, angiographies, nuclear medicine/PET, computerized tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging. Minimum five (5) years of experience working in an Imaging department as a technologist with progressive responsibilities in management or program/service management Certificates, license and registrations:Current California State License CRT and ARRT License. Membership in the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required. For fluoroscopy departments, a current California State License for Fluoroscopy is also required. Current AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professionals (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association certification required. Responsible for defining, writing, and maintaining the development of departmental policies and procedures. 2. Continuously evaluate and improve the systems, procedures, and methods used in accomplishing departmental workflow by engaging staff and other stakeholders in continuous quality improvement (CQI) and LEAN methodologies. 3. Prepares and delivers reports to operational, executive, and physician leadership outlining progress toward meeting annual goals and objectives, including performance related to finance, clinical activity, quality, safety, marketing, and human resources 4. Helps develop and monitor the annual capital and operating budget including projections in personnel, gross and net operating income, and expenses. Monitors monthly financial reports and reports variances. 5. Monitors and analyzes financial data and utilizes it for decisions regarding FTEs, staffing, and operational budget. Submit monthly variance analysis and biweekly productivity analysis. 6. Imaging procedures and protocols including the proper use and setup of imaging equipment, CT Scanner, and Sonographic procedures. Creates bi-directional systems that effectively communicate information and data, utilizing multiple methods. 7. Act as the liaison and resource person for the department and Physicians. Specifically develops and monitors staff orientation, provides active assistance, and role models problem solving. 8. Manages complex interdepartmental and interdisciplinary relationships to assure collaboration and effective/efficient operations within Radiology Services. 9. Model, maintain, and promote customer service skills and standards by bringing to speedy resolution patient concerns and/or issues. 10. Coach, evaluate, and recognize staff. Identifies lack of competency in performance and establishes a plan that includes goals, interventions, and measures. Initiate disciplinary action when necessary. 11. Supports supervisory direct reports to establish work procedures, prepare schedules, and expedite workflow. 12. Direct and assist staff in conflict resolution and act as an information resource. 13. Oversees the imaging equipment management and preventive maintenance program. Develops and implements procedures to ensure quality control for the facility. Monitors, reviews, and controls the ordering and stocking of consumable supplies to avoid waste. 14. Prepare annual employee performance evaluations. 15. Monitor employee licensure for current compliance with state requirements. 16. Some travel required. 17. Maintains all regulatory requirements for each modality and holds quarterly reviews of documentation to ensure compliance.
