Director of Institutional Contracting – Remote

The Director of Institutional Contracting is responsible for planning, directing and implementing the company strategy related to contracting with hospitals. 

 

You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. (Southern California preferred) as you take on some tough challenges. 

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Negotiates and renegotiates contracts with existing contracted institutional providers and identifies new strategic opportunities Develops cost-containment strategies to address non-contracted provider claims Works closely with regional leadership teams to establish and achieve budgetary targets for contracted network expense Coordinates financial analysis with Healthcare Economics department to support hospital negotiations and interfaces with Finance, Claims, Care Management and other departments to ensure proper administration of contracts

Required Qualifications:

10+ years of relevant experience under fee-for-service as well as at-risk managed care contracting Specific experience negotiating various hospital reimbursement methodologies including capitation, DRG, per diem and case rates Solid influencing skills; track record of successful client relationship development and ability to quickly build credibility and gain the confidence of individuals at all levels Solid sense of accountability; passion for owning projects and driving them to completion Demonstrated interpersonal, collaborative, and relationship-building skills Ability to analyze and explain complex concepts and contract terms to a broad internal audience Experience in building a contracted hospital network from the ground up in new markets

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Solid analytical and problem-solving skills Demonstrated ability to lead work teams and work cooperatively with peers and subordinates Ability to establish excellent relationships with senior executives of hospitals and healthcare systems

Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $122,100 to $234,700 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with al minimum wage laws as applicable.
