General position summary:

The Director of IT Applications is responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, operational performance, development, implementation, and management of NXTPoint's applications and supporting products. This role ensures software compliance with the company's lifecycle management and aligns with business goals and strategies. Responsibilities include leading an IT team, managing vendor relationships, handling financial management, and collaborating with other IT and non-IT departments to optimize business operations through the use of technology.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Serve as the main business unit contact for all IT programs and projects (IT Liaison)Oversee resource allocated to support project-related activitiesManage / triage application incidents and changes that may involve non-normal business hour activitiesAccountable for determining the technology strategy, ROI, investment priorities, and IT platform roadmaps for the business unit.Develop and implement the IT applications strategy aligned with the company’s business objectives.Lead and manage the IT applications team, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluations.Oversee the design, development, and deployment of software applications.Ensure the integration and compatibility of new applications with existing systems.Manage relationships with software vendors and service providers.Monitor application performance and implement improvements to enhance user experience.Ensure compliance with IT policies, standards, and regulations.Prepare and manage the IT applications budget.Lead a team of Product Owner, Business Analysts, or Project Managers as necessary.Develop and manage project plans and reporting documents to ensure timely communication and successful project completion.Coordinate system and operational acceptance testing and change management.Provide training for business units as needed.Develop operational Day 2 support plans.Create and sustain a Communications Plan, keeping business communities informed of project plans and implications, including progress reports and other management information.Determine operational objectives by studying business functions, gathering information, and evaluating output requirements and formats.Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking best practices, and participating in professional societies.

Job Skills Required:

8+ Years of Experience executing application development initiatives within a 3PL / distribution center companyExperience with Enterprise Logistics / Transportation and Warehouse Management Applications (McLeod, Korber, etc)Knowledgeable and experienced in the Software Development Life Cycle including Agile Scrum methodologies including but not limited to Software Design, Software Documentation, Software Development Process, Software Requirements, Analyzing Information, Teamwork, Software Maintenance, Written Communication, Promoting Process ImprovementStrong Business Acumen with the ability to lead through influenceEffective in navigating a matrix reporting structure and resources that are remote and in different time zonesBusiness / Operational Experience – Logistics, Transportation, Warehousing, etc.Reporting Line = Matrix with Primary line into IT & Dotted line to the Business Unit President(s)Location = Colocated with the business unit presidentOn-Site Primarily Located at Suddath Home Office 3 Days a Week (minimum)Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or  8 + Year related experienceProven experience in IT applications management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.Experience with ERP, CRM, and other enterprise applications.Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.Flexibility in hours of activities to adapt to customer / business need

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Lead and Manage Team: Oversee the IT applications team, including hiring, training, and evaluating staff performance. Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities to team members.Performance Management: Set performance goals and conduct regular performance reviews. Address any performance issues promptly and effectively.Resource Allocation: Allocate resources efficiently to ensure project and operational success. Manage team workload and prioritize tasks to meet business objectives.Conflict Resolution: Address and resolve any conflicts or issues within the team. Promote a positive and productive work environment.Reporting: Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on the status of IT applications projects and team performance.Budget Management: Assist in the preparation and management of the IT applications budget. Monitor expenditures and ensure cost-effective use of resources.
