Job Summary:
Responsible for the operational and financial success of the Harvard Maintenance branches, with specific focus on profitability, efficiency, productivity, employee retention and customer satisfaction. A member of upper management, the Director of Operations ensures that a company's everyday activities run smoothly and set parameters to judge how efficiently and effectively the organization is operating. As a senior leader, the Director of Operations is accountable for being a role model for Harvard’s core values: people first, safety, teamwork, client focus and accountability.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Participate in the planning and budgeting process and manage the budget for the region in conjunction with the Vice President of the Region Control overhead expenses within the regionImplement cost reduction and profit enhancing strategiesEnsure service delivery is consistent with quality objectives and contractual requirements. Lead on-going efforts for process improvement to enhance productivity and increase efficiencies while sustaining a high level of qualityMaintain customer relations, both current and prospective Support business development activities within the region including new account acquisition and customer retention initiatives Leverage existing relationships for new business opportunitiesDevelop management team for continued professional growthResponsible for ensuring the region follows and adheres to established company policiesEnsure all hiring, promotions and termination policies are followedEnsure job inspections are properly made and deficiencies are corrected Ensure timekeeping is completed daily and payroll is submitted on a timely basisEnsure purchasing of supplies, equipment and inventory management of the supplies meets contractual requirementsMaintain in constant contact with the Vice President of the regionEnsure Harvard Safety Policies are adhered to and support EH&S Management to build a strong safety culture in the region Knowledge and Skill Requirements Industry experience preferred, especially experienced in structuring operations, from market to buildingFinancial and business acumen, experienced in effectively managing a P&LOrganizational savvyStrong leadership and people management skill, success at building teams and developing talentSkilled at leveraging root cause analysis (RCA) and project management tools and processesDemonstrated success in driving continuous improvement efforts and data-driven decision makingTechnical knowledge of chemicals and equipmentMinimum of a Bachelor’s’ degreeMinimum of (10+) years’ experience in managing a janitorial operationExcellent written and verbal communication skillsCapability to build trust, value others, communicate effectively, collaborate with others, and solve problems creativelyAbility to proactively establish and maintain effective working relations with employees and other departmentsTechnical knowledge of all aspects of janitorial service delivery CompensationHarvard is offering a competitive salary structure including benefit package with medical, dental, life, and long-term disability (LTD) insurance along with 401K Savings Plan.
