No Duties and Responsibilities Summary:The Director of Law School Technology reports to the Law School Associate Dean for Administration and is responsible for providing leadership and strategic vision in managing the Law School’s information technology. The Director ensures that the Law School Computing Services (LSCS) team delivers efficient and effective technical support services to Law School students, staff, and faculty. The Director is a strategic partner with the Law School Dean’s Office and collaborates with senior leadership to establish the strategic vision, priorities, and goals. Additionally, the director collaborates with the University ITS team to advocate for the technology needs of the Law School and to promote the implementation of technology best practices. Furthermore, the Director holds a position as a member of the University ITS Extended Leadership Team (ELT).
The Director will lead and supervise the Law Technology team that supports approximately 250 staff and faculty and over 950 students. To meet the evolving needs of the Law School, the Director works to ensure that the LSCS team is open and receptive to new information, ideas, and approaches, works to keep abreast of new and evolving technologies, and is adaptable to benefit the needs of the unit.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. The Director is a strategic partner with the Law School Dean’s Office and collaborates with senior leadership to establish the strategic vision, priorities, and goals for Law School technology and to respond to high level issues. Leads the Law Technology team with planning, development, implementation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of Law school desktop and server hardware and software systems. Oversees the Law Technology team who provide user support processing day to day service requests and technology support for Law students, staff and faculty. Provides leadership for the planning, researching and evaluating of new technology, budgeting, and implementing Law School information technology resources. Develops technology standards and best practices for Law School technology resources. Manages activities related to the Law Laptop Final Exam process. Collaborates with the Law School administration to develop and implement exam related polices and procedure. Works with the Law Registrar office to implement exam procedures and exam collection. Oversees the Law Technology team configuring the exam software and providing pre exam support to Law students and post exam support to the Law administration. Oversees the Law Technology team with development, implementation, upgrades, maintenance, and user support and training for the Law School’s AV systems in Law classrooms and other spaces throughout the Law School. Conducts regular technology audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and implements strategies to enhance the overall technology infrastructure and user experience. Leads and facilitates technology training sessions and workshops for Law School faculty, staff, and students to promote efficient and effective use of technology resources. Responsible for managing the Law Technology budget and approving all Law technology purchases. Develops and maintains relationships with external IT and AV vendors and service providers. Ensures that all Law School units comply with the University’s policies related to data management, end user device security, and cybersecurity policies. Assists the Law School administration with getting all Law staff and faculty to complete required university training. Works to ensure that the LSCS team is open and receptive to new information, ideas, and approaches, works to keep abreast of new and evolving technologies, and is adaptable to benefit the needs of the unit. Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum Education and/or Work Experience Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science or degree in related field. Knowledge and skills developed through 7+ years of experience managing an IT department or work experience in a related job discipline. 5+ years of technical hands on experience and skills installing, configuring and troubleshooting IT and AV hardware and software systems.
Qualifications Minimum Education and/or Work Experience: Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science or degree in related field. Knowledge and skills developed through 7+ years of experience managing an IT department or work experience in a related job discipline. 5+ years of technical hands on experience and skills installing, configuring and troubleshooting IT and AV hardware and software systems.
Qualifications and Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in latest technology for IT systems and management. Experience with computing systems management and IT leadership experience in a complex academic or enterprise environment. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent analytical and management skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Experience with hardware and software systems, security, networks and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and telecommunications systems. Ability to communicate across all levels, from technical team to members of the leadership team.
