Primary Function:
As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, operations, growth, and development of the Machining and Fabrication department (Heavy on R&D Prototype – high mix/low volume and light on Production), averaging 2,400 parts machined/fabricated per month). This is a hands on Shop floor role. You will play a pivotal role in providing our team with the best processes, tools, and resources to drive profitability and deliver high quality parts to our internal and external clients.
This role will be primarily full-time in-office at our Camas Headquarters with a salary range of $110,000-140,000.
Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:
+ Grow and develop a world-class Machining and Fabrication team by hiring and developing top performers.
+ Estimate and quote 3-axis CNC parts, 5-axis CNC parts, CNC Lathe parts, and Fabricated parts by working closely with external and internal clients as the subject matter expert. (800 to 1,200 unique parts estimated/quoted per month)
+ Drive resource balancing of projects using your deep understanding and experience in/with CNC Programmers, Machinists, CNC Machinists, and Fabricators ensuring that all types of projects have the best available mix of talented people.
+ Work with peers to define and optimize processes for the Machining and Fabrication group, while also engaging other departments to ensure smooth hand-offs.
+ Ensure a fair and equitable process for salary and promotions across all Programmers, Machinists, Fabricators, and Support staff.
+ Grow and evolve the tools and training staff need to effectively and efficiently deliver quality products to our customers.
+ Provide consultation to PMs, as needed, to resolve conflicts or improve the performance of technician team members.
+ Ensure that project and department milestones are met and adhere to approved budgets.
+ Manage department metrics and foster an environment of continuous improvement.
+ Act as an ambassador/advocate for improving business performance and “keeping the flywheel moving.”
+ Follow Business Technology policies to protect sensitive data and reduce information security occurrences.
Education and Experience: (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)
+ Education: Technical degree in a related field.
+ Work Experience: A minimum of 7 years experience as a Shop Manager (hands on) in an R&D Prototype and Production environment. You were a CNC Machinist/Programmer for a significant period of time in your career.
+ Leadership Experience: Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing Machining and Fabrication teams.
+ Technical Expertise: Strong technical background in Machining and Fabrication principles, practices, and tools. Ability to stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies.
+ Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
+ Business Acumen: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and strategically, resolving complex technical and organizational challenges. Ability to make decisions while considering short-term, long-term, departmental, and organizational implications.
+ Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with team members, peers, stakeholders, and external partners.

Work Environment
Standard machine shop environment with various types of machinery. Appropriate safety garments (PPE) must be worn. Must be able to lift or move heavy objects up to 40lbs and must be able to stand and work as long as 12 hours in different positions.
