Role: Director of Manufacturing Operations Operation: Lead Manufacturer of Classic Luxury + Innovative Window Treatments For over 60 years, we've manufactured tried and true blinds, shades and shutters, emerging with humility as an industry leader. We are seeking a dynamic Director of Operations to oversee our state-of-the-art production facility in Tallahassee. This hands-on leadership position requires a strategic thinker who can balance day-to-day operations with continuous improvement initiatives, fostering collaboration across multiple departments. Please note: We are not offering relocation for this position, and, due to our timeline, only candidates within commuting distance of Tallahassee, FL will be considered. A Day in the Life in 3 Parts: + On-Site Leadership: Oversee daily operations at our Tallahassee plant, working on-site from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. + Continuous Improvement: Implement best practices and improvements to ensure compliance, enhance efficiency, and meet production goals. + Hands-On Involvement: Be engaged with day-to-day operations, providing support and leadership where needed to maintain smooth production. A More Focused Look at Continuous Responsibilities: + Modernization Leadership: Spearhead efforts to refine production systems and processes to enhance efficiency, while upholding our values of community and positive leadership. + Team Management: Oversee a team of 20-40 employees, including three manufacturing managers, to ensure smooth and efficient operations across the plant. + Process Optimization: Manage key production areas such as sanding, painting, woodworking, and assembly, with a focus on continuous process improvement and maximizing productivity. + Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with sales, marketing, purchasing, and finance to ensure manufacturing goals align with broader business objectives. + Strategic Problem-Solving: Implement cost-effective solutions to improve lead times, enhance product quality, and streamline customer delivery. + Data-Driven Decision Making: Leverage SAP or similar ERP systems to gather and analyze operational data, making informed decisions to optimize workflows. + Minimal Travel: Travel only 1-2 times per year to other distribution centers, with no travel required during the first year. Qualifications: + Manufacturing Expertise: 6+ years of experience in manufacturing, preferably in blinds, shades, shutters, or a related industry working with wood or PVC products. + Leadership Experience: 4+ years of experience leading teams, managing at least 20 people including direct reports. + Tech Proficiency: Strong experience with SAP or similar ERP systems, able to turn data insights into operational improvements. + Hands-On Leader: Willing to engage directly with the production team and processes when necessary. + People-Centered Management: Proven ability to lead with empathy and create a positive, efficient work environment. + Process Improvement Focus: History of developing and implementing processes that improve both quality and productivity. Bonus Qualifications: + Industrial Engineering: Experience in industrial engineering or plant management is a major plus. + Quality Assurance: Strong understanding of quality assurance and manufacturing compliance standards. + A previous role in window treatment manufacturing.
