Director of Marketing, Leadership Communities
About the Role: The Director of Marketing, Leadership Communities is responsible for developing and managing strategies across all of the existing memberships (CEO, CFO, CIO, CMO, and CCO Councils), as well as driving Go-To-Market (GTM) strategies for newly launched communities under The WSJ Leadership Institute (WSJLI). This role will work in close collaboration with the WSJLI membership team to refine and execute the most effective growth initiatives for both existing and new membership offerings. Reporting into the VP of Leadership and Event Marketing, this role will have a team of marketers and will work on-site in our midtown Manhattan office 3 days each week. You Will: + Manage and mentor a team of marketing professionals, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. + Set clear performance goals and provide ongoing feedback and development opportunities to team members. + Work closely with the audience data team to grow the target audience segments and create tailored marketing campaigns that resonate with potential members. + Review new membership strategies and build acquisition models to launch memberships in the market and drive a pipeline of qualified leads to sales. + Collaborate with membership, content, brand and sales teams to align on messaging and content strategy, ensuring a cohesive WSJLI acquisition campaign across all communities. + Utilize data analytics and insights to manage and monitor campaign performance, identify trends, and optimize marketing efforts to maximize ROI. + Build overall acquisition roadmap for WSJLI communities and marketing growth plans to drive news business to sales. + Oversee marketing engagement strategy and member communications. + Oversee and maintain budget optimization for WSJLI marketing campaigns to drive new business sales. + Set clear performance goals and provide ongoing feedback and development opportunities to team members. + Oversee event recruitment strategies for a portfolio of 50+ events annually. + Provide post-campaign analysis — drawing on successes and failures, in order to identify tactics that are delivering on business goals. + Stay agile in a fast-paced environment and adapt acquisition strategies in response to evolving market trends, member feedback, and performance data. + Conduct competitive analysis and market research to identify industry trends, competitive positioning, and new growth opportunities for WSJLI. + Lead the long-term acquisition strategy for WSJLI, identifying new markets and opportunities for membership growth and expansion. You Have: + The willingness to work in our midtown Manhattan office 3 days each week + 10-12+ years of relevant results-driven digital marketing experience including at least 5 years with a focus on customer or membership acquisition within a results-driven role. + Experience managing a team (4+). + Strong initiative and self-motivation. A self-starter who is able to take ownership of their projects as well as come up with and pitch new ideas. + Proficiency working with marketing and sales tools (Salesforce, Eloqua, CVENT, Tableau, Google Analytics) + A team player who seeks out opportunities for collaboration with their wider team and knows how to communicate effectively across departments. + Ability to manage projects independently and see them through completion— requiring the need to appropriately prioritize tasks and projects in order to hit deadlines. + Excellent planning, problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to evaluate and resolve challenges. + Experience A/B testing and utilizing those results to inform marketing decisions. + Hands-on experience with developing and reporting on creative metrics and KPIs for business goals as well as, process improvement projects + Excellent planning, problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to evaluate and resolve challenges. + Strong initiative and self-motivation with experience taking ownership of projects as well as coming up with and pitching new ideas. + Experience seeking out opportunities for collaboration with the wider team and communicating effectively across departments.
