Director of Marketing Communications
**What Is The Job?** Drive the successful implementation of branding strategies and tactical marketing programs for the hotel to support its short and long-term growth and profitability objectives. Duties involve planning, directing, controlling, coordinating and participating in all Public Relations activities. You will also help to create a desired work culture around our Winning Ways of the InterContinental Hotels Group and embrace the IHG Commitment. **Your Day To Day** + Develops a public relation program for the hotel based on its marketing goals to drive rate/occupancy and customer satisfaction levels; define and reinforce the brand image; promote product features and selling points; reach target markets; and enhance the hotel’s perceived and actual value to all stake holders and customers. + Take the lead in developing promotional and marketing strategies and tactical execution to address business and publicity opportunities for the hotel. + Oversee research and analysis regarding consumer-marketing data for the hotel to improve strategic and tactical business decisions for all products. + Ensure hotel promotional and marketing strategies are effectively integrated with corporate initiatives through tactical promotions. + Serve as the brand champion in the hotel and liaise with corporate and/or regional brand contacts on all brand decisions. + Develops media contacts, plans press conferences and other press activities. Acts as hotel’s liaison with media to promote good publicity and counteract bad publicity in order to maintain the prestigious image of the hotel. + Develops and organizes promotional activities, coordinates with departments concerned; invites VIPs and media to promotional activities; prepares and issues press releases. + Establishes sales leads from the study of magazines, newspapers and form personal contacts; coordinates sales leads with Banqueting and Sales Departments. + Disseminates corporate press releases to appropriate local trade and consumer media. + Establishes a programme for sending promotional news to trade publications on a regular basis releases covering special events, promotions, etc. + Prepares promotional press releases on personalities among guests and employees of the hotel and on newsworthy events in the hotel. + Provides information to other departments on activities within and outside the hotel which may be useful when dealing with guests. + Accepts clients and media complaints, requests, and inquiries and coordinates handling with departments concerned. + Maintains good public relations by developing and extending personalized service to VIPs. e.g. following up on reservations for VIPs, assisting in greeting VIPs and groups upon their arrival, sending welcome letter to VIP guests. + Develop and coordinates guest lists and invitations for VIP receptions, luncheons, dinners, etc. + Maintains clipping files pertaining to the hotel(s) based on daily perusal of the media and provides same to General Manager, other departments, other hotels, corporate public relations, as appropriate. + Maintains mailing list/contact file. + Maintains hotel photo file and co-ordinates hotel photography when required. + Liaises with Human Resource Manager on matters affecting corporate image. + Develop hotel gifts and giveaways. + Builds profile within local market place through attendance at various events and local market place. + Monitors awareness of competitor activities and use information when developing strategies. + Plans and coordinates sponsorship activities. **What We Need From You** + Bachelor’s degree / higher education qualification / equivalent in Hotel Management/Mass Communication + 4 years of experience including management experience. + Friendly and great knowledge about IHG brand. + Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with clients and the guests **How Do I Deliver This?** **We genuinely care about people and we show this through living out our promise of True Hospitality each and every day.
