Damar is looking for a talented and motivated Director of Nursing. The Director of Nursing is responsible for the oversight of the health and medical services Damar provides to children and adults on Damar’s residential campus and through Damar Health Services. The Director of Nursing reports primarily to the VP of Medical Services. For matters related to Damar’s Residential Campus, The Director of Nursing collaborates with the Executive Vice President, Intensive ID/DD Services.

Remarkable way you will make a difference...

Provides supervision and guidance to the Health Services team including nurses, health specialists, medical providers, and medical office managers and staff. Participates in the recruitment, coaching, and disciplinary actions of Health Services employees as needed. Provides support and supervision for Damar's medical providers, collaborating with other members of the clinic management team to ensure clinically appropriate care for our patients. Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary team. Works closely with PQI, marketing, and human resources to ensure compliance, to grow services, and to recruit and retain talent. Serves as a liaison between Damar Health Services providers, including therapists and technicians, and other members of the Damar leadership team as needed.Ensures that all health activities, services, and programs offered by Damar are conducted in a manner that is sensitive to and shows respect for the cultural and ethnic diversity for all Damar clients. Oversees client/patient health records and ensures record keeping is compliant with HIPAA and other regulatory standards. Conducts periodic training and coaching for staff as needed. Attends mandatory staff meetings and other meetings as assigned. Actively participates in and/or oversees data collection and the use of data to improve outcomes, practices, and service delivery. Creates efficient methods for storing, tracking, and collecting data within the electronic medical records system. Routinely reports results to quality and executive teams. Seeks out opportunities to grow and expand the health services department for both Damar’s residential campus and Damar Health Services. Works with marketing to plan events both on-site and in the community to expand awareness regarding the health services that Damar provides. Evaluates and adapts available medical services offered through Damar Health Services to meet community needs identified through patient feedback, community needs assessments, and patient outcomes. Evaluates and updates health-related policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.

What you need to be considered...

Must have an Indiana nursing license as a Registered Nurse (RN). BSN required, MSN preferred.Minimum of two years of experience managing and leading a team of people to successful outcomes. Experience working with neuropsychiatric and/or individuals identifying with the DD/ID population preferred. Healthcare leadership experience required.  Valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record that meets eligibility requirements of Damar’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving).Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen and physical.Must meet and maintain background screening requirements for all Damar Programs as detailed in policy 1.HR.02 Pre-Employment and Employee Background Checks.

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 35lbs); to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
